Chi Dumb question: What's up with Elide's cycle because unlike the other female characters she's quite specific about Elide's? Is it a coming of age thing for witches?

She talked about Aelin's once too (puking and everything) BUt nothing since then, which is weird.

message 103: by Susan (new) - added it

Susan I think she did that just to add a cute-but-awkward moment between her and Lorcan, nothing more.

message 104: by Wishbear (new)

Wishbear I’m so excited! Only 30 days till KoA is out!!! And on this website it is apparently hardcover and 992 pages long!

That is like QoS + Crown of Midnight!

I. Can’t. Wait.

message 105: by Joanne (new) - rated it 5 stars

Joanne I personally don’t think anyone else has to die to forge the lock because when that scene was taking place it says that Gavin senses the truth and the lies that were being told to Elena but he never spoke of them. I think someone having to die is possibly the lie.

Also, Maeve said her vision was Rowan and Aelin living for 1000’s of years happily with children. Why would that be her vision if Aelin has to die, there’s no way they could have that future or that Maeve could see that future if the world was destroyed by the valgs.

Just a couple more weeks!!!

I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO ROWAN FINDING AELIN!
So in the extract Aelin mentions her blood flowing of the island and into the river. If the currant flows the right way they can scent and trace it!

message 107: by Kyra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kyra Aly wrote: "I don't think that's going to happen. In the excerpt, it didn't mention that. Pls SJM BRING BACK NEHMIA AND SAM PLS"
Umm it did. It says indirect quote “days months years, they bled together as her own blood often bled across the stone and into the river”
If they do go past a body of water connected to the “most veiled river” they could scent the blood and trace her.

message 108: by Angel (new) - added it

Angel ok, so first:
i DEFINETELY think Nox is going to like, get all his underworld contacts of thieves and stuff and make them into an army for Aelin in KoA, bc in the beginning of EoS, Aelin says to the bastard Darrow, 'i'm gathering an army of THIEVES and assassins and COMMONERS' i mean she has the assassins and ansel's men and stuff but no thieves as of yet
second: i feel like a theory of ACOTAR and ToG connected is too good to be true, I mean so much doesn't make sense with that, but on the other hand i can totally see that with SJM. maybe there'll be like a new series with both connected, or just a single sequel? (wishful thinking here; i just REALLY want Aelin and Feyre to meet)
third: you know a lot of people here say that either dorian, chaol or aelin will die forging the lock or some shit, so i feel just because everyone thinks that, it won't happen. i can see one or two of the thirteen dying tho, cos there really isn't that much about them, maybe asterin or sorrel? forging the lock, i think maybe elena might try, or maeve will be tricked or something.
fourth: maeve. i know this seems really cruel and so many people will hate me for this, but i LOVE maeve. i mean, i don't like that she has aelin and stuff, but she's AWESOME. i feel like yeah, maybe she and erawan could be mates, or the equivalent for the valg, and maybe they'll be together in their own world or stuff, but maybe not, again.
fifth: erawan. i feel like it'll either be one of Aelin's court, which she basically has already, or it'll be the gods or something. i also have this theory; you know orcus and mantyx? his bros? maybe he'll try and bring them back, and they'll kill him? or maeve will attempt an alliance then stab him in the back or something, a lot of potential for his ending.
sixth: THE SPIDERS. there's already so much mentioned about them, aelin promised to kill one for falkan, manon already killed three, (i wonder if the spider she killed was the one falkan made the deal with). also, was it just me who got SOOO mad in ToD, when falkan said, i had an interesting encounter with a girl from the north, but i won't tell you? i was like, NO YOU IDIOT THAT'S AELIN! anyway, maybe the spiders will like bow to manon or something cos she killed their queen, or the northern spiders will join the battle against the southern spiders (the deal making spiders against maeve's handmaidens) bc of rivalry or something??? either way, they're going to join the battle somehow

this is a really long post cos i have so much to say!! soz

message 109: by Fenrys is my baby (new)

Fenrys is my baby Ok so here's a theory. What if Dorian and Aelin forge the lock or whatever together. Because it says one if them has to use every drop of blood and magic or something like that. So what if they both just use about half of their powers.

But idk, this could just be a really stupid theory for some obvious reason that I just can't see.

I've thought of this too, but it just seems s.... too easy? So, of course we are all not thinking this is the solution.

I hope it's what happens, cause if Dorian dies I'm just gonna go into post-book depression before I'm finished with the book.

the last fae of the cadre is not unnamed, when they said that they were chasing lorcan they said his name was vaughan

message 113: by Kyra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kyra GUYS THEY SAID FENRYS WOULD TRY TO LEAVE TRACKS FOR THEM TO FIND AELIN!!!!!!

message 114: by Devon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Devon there is literally like 6 hours left (if it comes out at midnight) and I CAN NOOOOOT WAIT!!!!
But I just finished reading the entire series over again and I feel like Aelin or Dorian may die at the end of the series, only because the "heir of Mala" must sacrifice their blood & magic to seal the wrydkeys into the lock. Honestly-I don't want either of them to die, but knowing Mass has been working on this for 16 years, she's prob going to hit us hard in the feels. But who honestly knows.

Also I think that Yrene is going to play a huge role in this, since healer's of Silba are the only ones (other than Aelin) capable of purging the Valg demons out of the person. I know Maeve wants to kill/banish Erawan since she wants all of the power to herself and that's why she bound that barn owl fae to her. (the owl is a super strong healer of Silba)

But honestly I hope someone wrecks Maeve's S*@t because I literally cannot stand her.

message 115: by Kyra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kyra It’s already out here (Australia) and OH MY GOD ITS JUST-

Shaphir PLEASE no spoilers here people. Even though I'm in Australia I haven't read it yet. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that hasn't read it.

message 120: by Karen (new) - rated it 5 stars

Karen Well, now that I'm finished.. I want the previous novellas I've mentioned (HoF from Rowan perspective and maybe some of the cadre's adventures). But I want some more of each of the characters on where they go from here! I loved the ending, but would love maybe small stories/updates on each on where they are in 5-10 years, or something. maybe a few have some interaction/situation that could make a short book and in that, we see where they all end up in the longer term.. hard to let go.

message 124: by Susan (new) - added it

Susan I have one complaint
[||||||Spoiler|||||]
.. nox just up and disappeared.. never to be mentioned by anyone or seen by aelin.. I was like 'tf happened to him?' I was expecting him to pop up again. Disappointed in the very minor role he had.

message 125: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Teague There was a brief crossover with ACOTAR correct?

message 126: by Susan (new) - added it

Susan Very brief, if you're talking about a flyover event.

Obesehomingpigeon Is it bad that Galan literally only had five lines and I still think he's a bean😊.

Obesehomingpigeon I would've ended the book on the "Dorian looked forward to tomorrow." bit.

message 129: by Olive (last edited Oct 30, 2018 03:03PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Olive Any book suggestions? I've read through the TOG and ACOTAR series several times. I think I need to stop excessively reading these books.

The Diviners series by Libba Bray is pretty awesome.

I've actually read The Diviners series. Maybe I should reread. I heard there is a fourth book coming out in the distant future.

message 132: by Stellar (new)

Stellar Aren't Aelin and Dorian related? They almost had a romantic relationship and I think they are distant cousins or something. Also are Rowan and Aelin also related I'm pretty sure? Rowan is descended from Mora while Aelin is descended from Mab. Mora and Mab are sisters so that makes Rowan and Aelin distantly related. I love them as a couple, but..

Karen BoredKitty wrote: "Aren't Aelin and Dorian related? They almost had a romantic relationship and I think they are distant cousins or something. Also are Rowan and Aelin also related I'm pretty sure? Rowan is descended..."

Aelin and Dorian both came from Mala's line, so Brannon... but it split then which was CENTURIES ago, so, not related enough to be an issue. Same thing with Rowan and Aelin.

Obesehomingpigeon Dude you can legally marry your third cousin, because they're so loosely related to you. I'm pretty sure Aelin, Dorian, and Rowan are all right.

Stellar Obesehomingpigeon wrote: "Dude you can legally marry your third cousin, because they're so loosely related to you. I'm pretty sure Aelin, Dorian, and Rowan are all right."

No, I know, I understand that, I just wanted to point it out. But it would be pretty weird to be mated to someone in your family no matter how distant.

message 136: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Johnston Rowen and Aelin weren’t related. Not really. If you were to go back as far as they were supposedly you’d find she was related to everyone. It’s the same in our world if you go back a couple thousand years we’d all be related.

If you google a family tree, they are more related than you think

message 138: by Jinny (new)

Jinny Can I just comment, if any one noticed in the King dom of Ash when Aelin was falling through portals she saw a beautiful fae male with wings who helped her slow down with his dark powers which were like the night?! Im driving myself insane thinking about this part. And that SJM comments that you could open portals between worlds of ACOTR and TOG.

message 141: by R (new) - rated it 5 stars

R Turner I neeeeeed more Nox. the whole book, I was waiting for him to come in, and when he finally did, HE DIDN'T MEET AELIN! I REALLY hope Sarah makes another book that is either a crossover (ToG and ACOTAR) or a book from Nox's point of view and they finally meet again.
