Elizabeth Lawson | 7 comments I read this book 20 years ago, maybe longer. The twins were named Rowan and Rowena (I think) and the dead one is trying to communicate with her sister by writing in code. The code was a series of X and O. I can not remember what this book is called and it's driving me crazy.

is there any other PN elements than the possible ghost of the dead sistr?

Elizabeth Lawson | 7 comments The sister that died was more popular... Better at sports. Either horse back riding or swimming? I don't remember. It's been so long. What I remember most is the code and that the dead sister was really unhappy that the live sister stole her life.

Did the twin contact her sister as a ghost? Can the living sister see her dead twin?

Thanks but it definitely isn't that book. The girls are 12 or 13 when one of them has an accident. Maybe drowns? Anyway, the dead sister leaves notes for the live sister written in a code consisting of X and O...

Could it be Identical? It involves twins, a long-ago accident, and issues of identity. I don't remember a code.

Oddly enough, this seems to be what you are looking for.
the main characters, one of them has a roommate, a girl that goes by Ro(Rowena), and her parents and twin sister drowned in a boating accident.

Elizabeth Lawson | 7 comments I think you may be right. I think I was around 11 when I read it and I was really into the idea of communicating with ghosts and the code idea seemed so cool to me. Lol. I'm glad somebody recognized my description because I was starting to think I just dream that I read the story. Thank you. :-)Rigaudon wrote: "Mystery of the Secret Marks

Should we mark this as Solved? Are you sure enough?

Elizabeth Lawson | 7 comments Yes, I'm reasonably sure that is the right book. How do I mark it as solved?Kate wrote: "Should we mark this as Solved? Are you sure enough?"
