Evelyn Scott | 8 comments Come on, I hate this things!!!
I mean every author has to kill some of my favourite character
Tris didn't deserve to die! She should've LIVED but with no memories whatsoever or even crippled for all i care so that Tobias can prove his love....

message 2: by Renee (new)

Renee errr should this be marked so openly when some people haven't read it? Should we make the title of the thread less spoiler-y?

Pea (bookopi) | 3 comments As the story goes on, Tris became reckless, she doesn't think before she act because she thinks she's the only one that could save,I mean she wants to protect her love ones

without noticing that she puts herself into danger and she sometimes forget Four. I hope the ending would show the teamwork ( like tris talked four on the ferris wheel) or unity of the districts, even though their lifestyle is different they still have one goal and that is to protect their land, the people, for the next generation to come, to.let them realize that there's still live in one community, and so on, not the same, the main character would die, and I hope Veronica showed some glimpse or story of tris and her brother, you know what I mean, so... That's my comment. :P

Yeah, I think that Veronica totally sacrificed Tris in the book just to show, what?? Sacrifice ?? It should've ended different.

noosh | 141 comments What I don't get is why Caleb lives in the end. I mean, nobody really likes him. He did stuff that made him deserve a painful death. Yet Tris dies instead of him. Tris didn't even love Caleb that much. Did she? The book should have ended with Caleb's death.

And I really think Caleb could have stopped Tris from going there if he really wanted to. But he didn't.

message 7: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 73 comments I just would like to say that I thought TRis had a very noble death. from book one she struggled to be selfless she wanted to be selfless and make her parents proud but this was her challenge. her death was her ultimate success and her parents would have been proud not only did she may down her life for her loved ones but also for a ton of other people she didn't know to me this was a true act of bravery. yes we all wanted this happily ever after epilogue where TRis and Tobias marry and have kids and I admit at first I was mad but I think it was a great end to tris"s story. veronica can end her story how she wants to and personally I think it was a sad but magnificent end to an amazing series.

message 8: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I understand why she died, I really do. It was because her journey was over. I just thought it was too soon for Tris to die. I know that there can't always be a happy ending, but Tris and Tobias really deserved if. They both fought their hearts out, and even when Tris died, Tobias still had to mend the pieces of destruction that was left behind. They were both very passionate and they deserved it after everything they went through.

message 9: by Jacqui (new)

Jacqui | 1 comments Honestly, I didn't like the ending - I found it to be a bit predicatable, but I also don't disagree with it. I thought that Tris did have to die, but I found that the very last chapter was unrealistic. I think it was fitting that Caleb lived (just hear me out), to me all of Caleb's betrayals and Tris's actions toward him were pointing out that he wasn't fit for Abnegation and that she was - Abnegation were selfless and Tris sacrificed herself for her friends and family, whereas Caleb valued the knowledge the government was gathering over the selfless act of giving everything up for a society he didn't know - I think killing Caleb would have been wrong, so I'm content that he survived. As for Tobias, I wasn't sure. I don't think he should have died, but I don't agree with how he ended up living after Tris.

Veronica should've atleast wrote about Caleb and his gulit after Tris's death.....
Now we can only guess that he is feeling very guilty or lonely or sad or....

Caleb was always the selfish one !!! Hell he betrayed his parents and Beatrice for their enemy faction ERUDITE!! Because of him, Tris was on the verge of dying TWICE, One time: she beat death and the other time she couldn't :(

Liesel The Boss PERSON on your SCREEN | 6 comments Caleb should have died. He was the worst one! I hated him so much and Tris just HAD to die in place of him! And what I hate the most is that Roth had to make it even more painful by showing that Tris HAD survived the poison, but she still gets shot anyway. It's like she's purposely showing us a glimpse of the happy ending we all wanted, but takes it away from us like that.:(

message 12: by Nicolas (new)

Nicolas Fernandez (iamnikf) It's funny because if Tris had survived and had had a baby with Four, then people would be comparing it to Mockingjay.

message 13: by Thia (new)

Thia Colegio (thiatomato) | 1 comments When i was reading the part when tris was shot by that guy, i really wanted to cry but can't. I was in a plane, and it would be a bit awkward if cried then the plane crew saw me and ask me if there's something wrong or if i need anything. So i didn't. But it's really hard when you hold back tears.

At first i didn't like it when it was announced she's dead, that Tobias would have to live in the freedom they fought for without Tris by her side. Then, i realized we can't have all the things we want in life. It takes the life of some for the others to live. That's just life, right? But it was really sad, and hard for him. Uggh i can't wait for the movie to come.

I woke up in a room full of mirrors. Tori was standing there. "Tori! You- You're alive!" I began to cry. "Where is Tobias? What happened?" Tori looked straight at me. "Calm down Beatrice. It was a simulation. Your results were Abnegation."

message 15: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 5 comments Okay...miss Lilly!!!!! That was just pure evil. Like...pure. Now, to the question: I think the ending was both terrible and amazing. (Yes, it's perfectly possible to be both). I mean HOW CAN TRIS DIE?!? I mean, I understand people freaking die all the time, but this is fiction!! I want my happily ever after. Though Veronica Roth and John Green both told me otherwise. So for the terrible part? I really miss Tris and although I think she is sometimes a very irrational person, I think she was very important and no matter: I just loved her. Plus Tobias needs her! In my opinion? Caleb deserved that death. But since that obviously was not the case, my other choice would be (and don't murder me) Tobias should have died also. If Tris dies, Tobias dies. Thats what he would have wanted. You die, I die too. But the more major reason would be that I want them to be together. So if they both die, at least they would be together in afterlife!!! Now at the se time, although the ending was frustrating, it was very good and it did prove more reality rather than plain fiction and showed us what could really happen instead of cliche endings. Well...thats my long say in the ending of this beyond amazing series. Okay? Okay. ;)

I completely agree with you Hannah about both of them dying. I just thought everyone would hate me if I said it because it would've been better.

:(: It's so upsetting, relieving and hopeful....

message 18: by Emma (new)

Emma I agree with you. If tris had to die. Tobias had to die too. Not to be mean or rude, but I think so. They needed eachother.

Serena (tslover) | 10 comments Ehhhhh. So so. 50% yes and 50% no. I guess half and half. Sometimes I find that Tris died like an Abnegation and did it right. Sometimes I feel like she should've let Caleb die instead of her. He deserved to die after betraying his own sister. That's a good question actually. Honestly, I don't know.

Serena (tslover) | 10 comments New ending should be: Tris lives. David or Caleb dies. Or: Tobias and Tris die together as a couple. Did u hear people, Veronica Roth confirmed that Tobias dates Christina six and a half years after Tris's death. I'm one who believes he is a traitor for doing that actually.

Did she really confirm that? I can't believe it. In the end of Allegiant, she says that Tobias and Christina becomes good friends, but she never mentioned anything about them dating. Because that would be very disappointing.

Serena (tslover) | 10 comments Yep. According to the Internet.

message 23: by Lauren (new)

Lauren When did she say that?

I think that Tris shouldn't have died. She should have been shot and been injured severely for all I care, but she should have lived.

Evelyn Scott | 8 comments Alternative ending

I started saying, “My mother taught me all about real sacrifice. That it should be done from love, not misplaced disgust for another person’s genetics. That it should be done from necessity, not without exhausting all other options. That it should be done for people who need your strength because they don’t have enough of their own. That’s why I need to stop you from ‘sacrificing’ all those people and their memories. Why I need to rid the world of you once and for all.”

I shake my head.

“I didn’t come here to steal anything, David.”

I twist and lunge toward the device. The gun goes off and pain races through my body. I don’t even know where the bullet hit me. Vaguely I’m aware, that someone else has just entered the room.

Surprisingly, I can still hear Caleb repeating the code. With a quaking hand I type in the numbers on the keypad.

The gun goes off again.

I hear Caleb’s voice, loud but shivering speaking again. The green
button. Then I understand, but I have no time to look back.

I start to fall, and slam my hand into the keypad on my way down. A light turns on behind the green button. I hear a beep, and a churning sound. I slide to the floor. I feel something warm on my neck, and under my cheek.

Red. Blood is a strange color. Dark.

From the corner of my eye, I see David slumped over in his chair.

But in front of him, I see another person. The person who had entered the room. The person who I was willing to sacrifice myself for. The person who had now taken a bullet for me and saved me.

Caleb.

His eyes where black, coal black without any emotion.

So much pain, I thought as I entered an endless night of darkness.
THE END

Tris wakes up later on facing Tobias who tells her that Caleb died.
This is the ending i think would be better

Daughterofposeidon | 23 comments i just finished reading allegiant today. i cried so much! tris should not have died!

message 29: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I looked up why veronica roth decided that tris should die. She said that a completely happy ending wouldn't do tris justice. She planned it from the beginning. Look at page 476 in divergent and allegiant. In insurgent too she says, "I am not done yet!" In allegiant she asks her mother," Am I done yet?" He mother tells her yes. I never said I was completely happy with her death, all I'm saying is that I understand why she died.

message 30: by Delaney (new)

Delaney | 1 comments I actually do like the ending. It's so unique and I think it shows that there is not always a happy ending but you will survive and you have to learn to overcome your sorrow. I don't like that that tris dies but it was written so amazingly that I accepted it. I also like how Tobias is trying to move on and use her death to overcome his fears.

message 31: by *facepalm* (last edited May 27, 2014 12:24PM) (new)

*facepalm* (alagaesia) Heartbreaking but I couldnt think of another end. I mean like 4Tris 2 years later, Four crouched asking Tris to marry him! Chessy!!

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

When I saw that it said 2 years later I was like "OMG WHAT IF TOBIAS PROPOSES TO TRIS!!!" But then I found out that Tris dies and I was like "Oh". But the ending was heartbreaking!

message 33: by Kitty (new)

Kitty | 9 comments I loved it tris went the way I would want to go the ending was sweet tobais facing his fear of heights and doing it the same way as tris was nice I loved the bit bout the trains and the way four and Christina are like friends now. although tris dying was sad I felt that the story led up to it and that the story ended better that way

A. J. (writerwithheart) I don't know about you guys but none of that really happened for me, I'm content believing that this: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9815992/... is the only legit and real ending this series ever had.
