How did this installment match up to An Ember In The Ashes for you? Do you like the direction the series is headed in?

I loved this sequel. I'm so happy that we're getting two more books and I loved the continuation of world building in this one. I'm hoping that the world will just continue to grow even more in the next two books. I thought that this book was well paced and I just had a lot of fun reading it (even though I'm also terrified for all of the characters safety the entire time I'm reading)

Natália Lopes (silkcaramel) THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! As much as I loved book 1, A Torch Against The Night was better in so many ways! Yes, it made me suffer a lot and have lots of feels but OMG. Sabaa took it to a whole new level of darkness and violence. Also, the main plot is finally coming up, magic is being explored and the world we previously knew is being expanded. Laia went through some major character development in this one and HELENE'S POV GUYS. I adore her character and getting a inside look on her head and what was happening with her and the empire was just amazing. Loved it and can't wait for book 3!
