Advice Needed for Running a Book Giveaway

I ran my book on Amazon Free recently. I also got a lot of takers. Then as soon as it went back to price ($3.22) not one person bought. ALSO, no reviews. However, I did get a higher notice by Amazon. They are good to deal with. As for the Free Takers, they want but don't return the favour and give a review. Not even a bad one. Thats sad. I can't do that.

I think it helps if you can possibly get some reviews up on the book first.
I've also used the freebie book websites to publicise a freebie - it depends on the genre of book which site you choose but for mystery/suspense I've used thefussylibrarian.com and I've had good take up. You need 10 good reviews first though.

Thanks, Justin! That's a great idea. I was thinking of doing a giveaway on my launch day as part of my virtual book look using Facebook events. Have you ever done something like that?

Thanks, Justin! That's a great ..."
Yeah, I ran a few giveaways during my launch day by doing contests.I would ask a question or show an image and the winner gets a copy of the book.

If you're hoping for reviews from the giveaways, don't get your hopes up. Sorry. Out of all the books I've given away, I would say I got 1% of A review:)
It's just best to ask book bloggers who give reviews for that.
I'm hoping somebody can give me someone advice. I have an e-book coming out in November, and I was thinking of running a book giveaway (+ Amazon gift card) to help publicize it. From your experience, when is the best time to run a book giveaway? Before your book comes out -- ending a few days before your book's release? Or the day your book is released? My goal is to drum up publicity (and hope that it may lead to a few sales).
Any advice or insight would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Tiffany
