Daniel continued towards the Hatter's table. Once it was in sight, he ran. Hoping to find something that would help. On the table within the mess of everything was the small cake from the room. "EAT ME" it read. Knowing what it did, Daniel placed Ani on the table next to the cake. "If you eat it you should get bigger," he said.

Daniel felt relieved when she returned to normal size. "Thank God!" he exclaimed as he fell into one of the chairs. Everything was so stressful. His body ached and his mind raced. All he wanted was some peace and quiet so he could sleep everything away. He wasn't the best at dealing with stress and he knew it. That was probably why he was in such a mood lately. As he collapsed in the chair he leaned his head back and asked the sky, "Why?"
[[sorry finals and stuff. Still alive though]]Daniel glanced over at Ani and smiled. She looked like that small girl who always made his day brighter. Daniel removed his sweat jacket and placed it over her. Then he followed her lead and began to doze. He was exhausted and almost immediately went off into his own mind.
Daniel followed suit and fell asleep despite the world around him. As he rested, he dreamed. These weren't figments of imagination, but rather suppressed memories; most of which Daniel didn't remember having.Daniel was sitting alone in the kitchen. His parents were out; either at work or just having fun, while his brother was at soccer practice. He hated beling alone, but by now he'd gotten used to it. If he wanted, he could probably join a sports team. As he sat alone, Daniel quietly sipped at his pomegranate juice. It was a beautiful day. Daniel stared out at the bright scene as if a painter had finished his work of art and was now admiring it.
Daniel was so stressed out that he wouldn't wake for another few hours. His dreams continued as he mentally warped reality to suit his own needs. As he frolicked in his own happy place, Erik watched them from afar. He knew that it was his job to bring them in, but something was nagging at him to help. He stood there watching as Ani began to walk away. Erik wondered if he could just talk to Daniel. He wanted to know what happened on earth after he left.
Daniel awoke to find Ani gone. He immediately jumped up and began to panic. Where could she be? Daniel thought as he looked around, frantically trying to see if there were any clues as to where she was. Deciding that he needed to find her, he began to yell, "ANI! ANI!" He moved around a lot and worried about her safety. It wasn't that he didn't think she could protect herself, but rather he was afraid of the world. It was so unpredictable and dangerous. As Daniel paced, he checked his watch. It ticked on and on, yet the sound calmed him slightly.
Daniel was relieved that she was alright, but something seemed weird. He wasn't saying that her happiness was weird, but it was like she accepted and enjoyed the fact they were trapped in this world. He smiled at her before saying, "I'm so glad you're safe. I was worried." With a warm look in his eyes, Daniel wondered if she too would ultimately stay in Wonderland, if given the choice.
"Yeah, it was nice," he replied as he allowed her to spin. It was weird that she was so happy. Or maybe it was him. Was he that strange, that unable to adapt that? He watched her silently and thought maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to stay here for a while.
"I'm fine," Daniel replied as he watched her. He couldn't believe that she was so active. She reminded him of a jumping bean. This made him smile. He honestly couldn't remember the last time she was in a good mood. Realizing that this world might be their final destination, Daniel relaxed a bit and decided to make the best of it.
He just smiled, knowing when it was his time to listen. It was obvious he was a real jerk yesterday, so he wanted to make it up to her today. As he relaxed in his chair he wondered what would happen next. Looking up at the sky he found clouds hovering over head. They were light and fluffy. He loved looking at clouds because they could transform into anything your imagination wanted; from a friend to an animal to a landscape to just a funky shape.[[nite]]
Daniel nearly choked as she shoved the food into his mouth. He pushed her aside and got up. Coughing it up and spitting it out, "Give me some warning next time." He was doubled over breathing heavily, "Sorry for pushing you. It's just, I wasn't expecting that." Taking a deep breath, Daniel straightened up and continued, "I'm not hungry. Please don't force me to eat.'
Daniel looked at her with concern. "It's alright. Please eat. I like it when you're happy. Don't let me take that away from you," he was really concerned about her. Honestly, he liked it better when she was in her own happy place. It was scary to think that this place had changed them so much.
Daniel embraced her almost immediately. She was trembling slightly as he held her. Holding her closer and tighter, Daniel said, "Don't worry. Everything's going to be alright." He didn't know what to say, but one thing was for sure, he'd protect Ani's happiness with his life. As he held her there, he wondered if that was what happened to Erik. Did he just lose himself in the blissful glee of Wonderland?
Daniel didn't want to think of that. He replied, "We won't. We'll find out way out." Looking into the distance, Daniel realized that the possibility of them getting trapped was a strong possibility. He was afraid of that possibility. Pushing that away from his mind, Daniel relaxed continuing, "Just relax. Everything will turn out for the best."
[[Sorry I'm on vacation and have limited computer time. I didn't see your post]]Daniel looked over to where she was looking and saw the glint of metal. "Erik?" He said nervously. Daniel didn't know what to do. Whenever it came to Erik, he felt conflicted. Thinking about what Epsilon said, he wondered what happened to Erik. Did he fall into a hole or did he get there some other way? Life was complicated and he was stressed.
Daniel decided to stand strong in the sight of his brother. "What do you want Erik?" It sounded colder and more distant then intended, but Daniel didn't waver. He wanted to show Erik that he was grown up and didn't need him, but also that he was not the same kid who'd cry when it got too dark.
[[sorry about being so sporadic]]Daniel didn't flinch as he replied, "Ask." Daniel had no idea what would come next, but he assumed it would have something to do with his family and possibly Eric's girl friend. Although he knew nothing about the latter, Daniel knew what Eric's disappearance did to his family.
"She's a good friend," Daniel replied as he squeeze her hand softly in response. "After you left, she moved into the neighborhood." Still keeping cool, Daniel continued, "Our parents are still grieving. Mom cries herself to sleep every now and then. Dad doesn't talk about you to me any more. Your room's still there, just as you left it. Nothing has changed since you left."
Daniel was getting angry and it was hard to conceal it. "How am I? Well my older brother, who I thought died, ended up ditching me for this imaginary world. All I've ever thought I knew is wrong. You were my hero. You. Now you're just a stain on the memory you left behind. So to answer your question bluntly, I'm not doing so hot," his voice had raised in volume throughout the response, but he couldn't help it.
"Sorry's not gonna cut it," Daniel stated harshly. He grit his teeth before relaxing a bit, "But you can come back with us. Let's find a way out of here and return to reality. Return to your family." Daniel was pleading now without realizing it. He didn't even notice Ani getting closer and closer. At the moment, his entire attention was focused on Erik.
"So a false reality trumps your family?" Daniel adverted his eyes as he continued, "Head of the Red Queen's army. You such an f***ing big shot. Sooorry, Mr. Too-Good-For-Me." With his eyes still refusing to look at his brother, "You always told me that things pass and you just have to push through. Remember when Grandpa died. We were so devastated, but we got through that." Looking at Erik, "Why are you running away from everything, everyone? The world's far from perfect, but that's what makes it life. Overcoming hardships."
"I was right. My brother did die," Daniel said to himself. He looked at Erik and said, "No, F***ing Way." With that Daniel began to run at Erik. Using his powers, he landed a solid punch before Erik could react.
Daniel didn't know what hit him, but as he laid there out cold his subconscious continued to work. As Erik pinned Ani, Daniel's clock began to rewind. Time went backwards to the point when Erik lunged at Daniel. Now knowing what would happen next, Daniel dodged Erik's kick. Sprawled on the ground, Daniel yelled, "Now Ani!"
Daniel was on one knee, exhausted. He never wound time backwards that far before and it was actually quite painful. As he stood, his legs shook violently, but Daniel wouldn't show weakness to Erik. If Erik wanted another shot at them, Daniel would do everything in his power to stop him. [[I don't know do you?]]
[[OK, If you want I can end it here.]]As Daniel felt Ani embrace him. He stood up with her by his side and said sternly, "I'm sick of this wonderland and I'm sick of people telling me what to do! This entire thing is ridiculous and so are you!" He looked to Ani hoping she'd agree. If anything, it would bring him some solace.
[[the way alice gets out of wonderland is by her waking up..aka...her denouncing wonderland and standing up to authority figures. Since Ani is the one holding onto the place, if she denounces it they should wake up. In theory.]]
Daniel went to catch Ani as he saw her fall, but he too felt the wave of nausea. Falling hard, Daniel shot up to find that he had fallen asleep under the tree. It was shady and cool. Hearing the breeze push the leaves side to side made Daniel happy to be back in his own realm. As he groped around for something, he found Ani's hand.
Daniel stared ahead, he was confused but the sight of his brother..even if it was all a dream really set him on edge. Never in a million years would he have imagined his brother as the enemy, but it happened. Things were so complicated. It was a dream. Despite that, Daniel couldn't shake the feeling that something was truly wrong. Erik is dead. Erik is DEAD! Daniel had to continue saying that phrase over and over again.
[[why? What's wrong with this thread? Sorry, I know I've been really busy lately.]]Daniel smiled to her and pushed the dream away. "It's nothing. Just a bad dream," he stated as he stood up. "Well, we should get going. It's gotten late, don't you think?" Looking up at the sky, he wondered what was going to happen next. That dream really screwed with his mind... in the bad way too.
[[I'd prefer if we kept the rp here.]]Daniel smiled warmly as he stood. With an outstretched hand, Daniel said, "Come on, let's go home." He really wanted to lock himself in his room and think about his dream. It was strange to imagine that something like that could happen. At the moment, he was pushing the experience aside as if it never happened.
Daniel looked at Ani asking, "Are you alright?" He was concerned for her well being as they walked. It was hard to see her so shaken up. What happened? Why was she so uneasy?
Daniel didn't want to share. As far as he knew, Ani didn't know anything about Erik, so it wasn't right to unload on her. Daniel continued to walk as he replied, "That sounds weird. What do you mean?" He knew exactly what she meant, but he didn't want to share. At the moment it was better if he kept things on the DL.
Daniel reached his front door and waved 'goodbye' to Ani before disappearing into the house. Personally, he was glad to be out of sight. Daniel was so confused and shaken up that all he wanted was to be alone. The more he thought about the encounter and the dream, the more it felt real. He was partially terrified, but mostly confused. [[sorry, but I really want to end this rp...and plus I won't be around as much this week.]]
[[I'm going to give Daniel a fitting farewell.]]That night Daniel fell asleep. It was a restless night. He couldn't shake the nightmares. They became so unbearable that he decided not to sleep. For another week or so Daniel went without sleep. Finally, he broke and he lost it. Screaming Erik's name and cursing the rabbit for bringing the nightmares. The more he went without sleep, the more his mind went.
After about a month of living with the insanity, Daniel's parents sent him to an asylum. There he was kept under lock and key, until finally he found a way to hang himself.
The white gates of heaven opened for Daniel, but when he stepped through them, he fell through. Darkness engulfed him and he drowned in the darkness.
