I have read his first three books in the Oland quartet series upto now, and now I'm looking for other Scandinavian crime thriller authors with similar a writing style, any suggestions will be appreciated.

???!!! | 135 comments One of my favorite authors. But it is hard to come up with authors who have similar writing style because each is so original. One that came to mind would be Belinda Bauer. But she is not Scandinavian. How about. Voices, his book "Silence of the Grave is exceptional. Also, you might want check The Keeper of Lost Causes. You might have already read many threads about the in this discussion group.

Gary Van Cott | 132 comments I am curious what features you especially liked about these books. I can really only remember what I didn't like: The strong supernatural elements in the second book and the lack of significant continuing characters. I liked the third book the best of the three that are available in English.

I've only read the first two books but I can give you some authors to read such as Yrsa Sigurðardóttir and a stand alone book I Remember You. Or try Camilla Läckberg's "Stonecutter".

Jake (jmf0st3r) | 2 comments Thanks for the feedback! I have come across 'Silence of the Grave' infact it's in my to read pile, that's the only book I could find that seemed similar to Johan's style - I'll also look up the others you and Kenneth suggested.

Jeremy Megraw (jmegraw) | 48 comments Hi Jake, Arnaldur Indridason's grim and thoughtful prose is a good match, the Erlendur series has the same unhurried pace as Theorin and incorporates the climate to mirror the mood of the characters and their dilemmas. Sometimes he even hints at the supernatural in Icelandic culture, but very subtly. Also try The Flatey Enigma. Not sure about the suggestion of Jussi Adler-Olsen's Dept Q series, which is very different; Brilliant and dark thrillers, but which have comic, even over-the-top wacky elements. I'm a big fan of all the above though!
