How does the 18th sound? I have a few other buddy reads scheduled and that's one week I actually have free. I'm also in both of the team challenges, so if this will fit one of those rolls, I'll let you know and see if you're able to read it when it comes up. Sound like a plan?
Sounds good. I had a busy summer and totally missed the team challenges this round. So Lots of free time here. If it comes up before the 18th great if not we will start on the 18th sounds good?

I started this morning...not really ready, but I started it. My plan is to read 4 chapters a day for 5-6 days.

Yeah, that interesting start degraded really fast for me. I feel like the author just tried to cram every single paranormal thing they could in to the book to make it appeal to a very broad audience. Add that to the fact that they're actively comparing Owl to Indiana Jones, and the book has a very clichéd feel to it. I'm at the start of chapter 10, and am really glad I'm taking it in chunks!
I really liked the concept a supernatural Indiana Jones. I do feel the beginning was a little crammed but maybe it will get better. I'm almost to chapter 8 the kids keep interrupting my reading. I think it's her first book or major book. I honestly like it but I'm in a slump and it's keeping my attention.
I finished it tonight...will be rating it 2 stars and will not be in a hurry to read the second book, which I own. I kept putting it down and saying "I hate this book!" It felt like too much info dump all at once, but the ending pulled it out and saved the book. I took a look in the Amazon store, looks like the third book got pushed back until Summer 2017, I had thought I saw something that said it would be out this year when I bought these last year. May revisit this early next year, as reviews did say that the story did get better in the second book.
I don't hate it but I don't love it. It's gotten slow and I'm unmotivated to keep going. I've been reading it a week now and I'm only about halfway. I keep putting it down to do other things. I love the idea and the concept but it's just not grabbing my attention I could be trudging through for weeks at this rate.
Maybe I'll check out the next one if it does get better. I'm kind of bummed this one was a flop it would have been fun to have an exciting buddy read that we could have chatted about. Maybe next time.

Yeah, I really struggled with it too, and I had really high hopes for it as well!
I'll keep my eye on the buddy read discussion thread, see if I see anything you post to buddy read! I'd love to try another buddy read with you!
