I am up to date on Blacklist in the UK, USA maybe onto the new series..

Staying at home, my wife and I did some power washing in our front garden, took 3-4 hours, brushing ...

Washed both cars..

Then into back garden, watching you tube videos, and reading and enjoying the lovely weather.

Just being able to enjoy the sun and garden is so nice with these difficult times.

Marie Had to brave the world and go out to pick up some takeout earlier - eerie feeling to be out driving around and seeing hardly any cars on the road.

Time here is 8:44 p.m.

Now I am on GR cruising around to see what is going on and checking out all my friends book feeds. :)

On lockdown, self isolating for five weeks now...

I do not mind being at home, lucky I am paid fully.

Kept busy every day with 4 to 6 mile walks.

Reading, gardening, moderating here, films and lots of television...

Exercise classes and walking is good.

Love my music, and reading..

Update news always frightening moments at this time.

Sarah B | 1532 comments I just finished my 10 mile walk, about half of it on the trail and the other half along beautiful Lake Michigan. It's windy here today but sunny with a bright blue sky. It's almost 1:30 pm.

I don't mind being at home either. I'm reading books, watching stuff on YouTube, doing various exercises, cooking and write messages to a few friends. That keeps me busy. And sometimes I research stuff online too.

I'm in Milwaukee.

Sarah B | 1532 comments I just finished another long walk down by the lake. Today I did 10.5 miles because I climbed Water Tower Road and then took the Bradford Beach Trail. Beautiful day out! It even feels a bit warm. Now I'm planning on finishing the one book I'm reading and write to my pal.

Is that area near the lovely Milwaukee Art Museum? We visited it this past summer with our granddaughters.

message 2960: by Sarah (new)

Sarah B | 1532 comments Yes it's just north of the Milwaukee art museum! My route goes past the War Memorial and then loops around the art museum to head north. I love walking down by the lake as it's so beautiful. I often go onto Lakeshore State Park too. That's just south of the Art Museum, next to Discovery World.

You can read about and see the North Point Water Tower here.

https://city.milwaukee.gov/water/abou...

It looks like a fairy tale place where Rapunzel would live! 😀 Or that's what I think when I see it.

Yes, 10.5 miles is pretty good! I can do a half marathon. And I walk in the winter too.. as long as the sidewalks are clean! Lots of people were out today. And they already have the boats by the lagoon in veterans Park.

I'm sure it's pretty in Evanston. I've only been to IL a few times back when I was in school. In middle school we visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and in high school we went to Great America each year, in June.

Don't know where the days go...

All of a sudden it's evening.

Okay watched one film today , as a day of cloud and rain.

But collect from vets/ tablets for older cats.

Outside garden centre to buy 4 bags of ground, my wife goes in to pay.

Order food from Marks and Spencers, for our selves, and 5 friends/neighbours.

Delivered and shared to older neighbours.

Farm shop phoned to say food ready, go to car park and delivered to the back of our car, take home and check orders and again share with numbers.

Now checked all sales/receipts phone calls for amounts owed.

Face time with family.

Now nearly 7.00 pm no dinner yet, late due to phone going...

No time to read today ! Yet !! Maybe at about 10.30-11.00 pm for an hour.

Hard work Janet, but rewarding...

I try to walk 4 to 6 miles a day...

The most I can do under Lockdown.

It was 2 hours a day in Jersey, but have said you can now go out for 4 hours a day total.

But feel safe around 1 and half hours then see less people.

I guess in the USA you can walk and not see anybody...

USA members Are you restricted on your time out under lockdown, I guess different states, different rules?

Here we are allowed to go out and exercise. Basically we can be out as much as we want as long as we are not in big groups. We're supposed to stay 6 feet away from other people.. we can also go out and sit in parks to read books or play Frisbee or stuff, just as long as we stay away from others. That's here in Wisconsin. I think other states have much stricter rules..

The only individuals who are on very strict lockdown (quarantine) are those actually diagnosed with the virus. They are not allowed to go anywhere.

Right now Milwaukee has a curfew of 9 pm due to riots. For the last two hours I've heard helicopters flying overhead. News copters probably. I just got off the phone with my friend who told me more details of what was going on, because I wasn't sure. She said there were big crowds on a street some blocks south of here..lots of cops. She said the crowds were starting to break up. Most people we're not wearing masks. I never thought it would come over here into this area..it was nice and peaceful earlier! I also hear fireworks going off. But yeah...it's going to spread like crazy!

After 12 weeks off work, getting paid, but not working.

My work decided this week to start me working at home...

7 hours on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, so boring...

Alas still at home and still being paid.

Still getting out for a walk.

Tennis I can play singles, outside, not going inside, to friends houses.

Outside and still social distancing, which we do. Done for three weeks now on a friends grass court....

Sarah B | 1532 comments It's 12:35 pm and I'm sitting in the sun in my local park. Getting my Vit D. I just got back from the horse ranch. I saw all of my buddies there like Oliver, George, Toby, Rusty, Grace, Buck. Rio is no longer there and I think that's why Oliver seemed so sad, moody and jumpy! I removed a big mat of tangled hair off of his belly..

I'm going to read my book... Then later around 4 I have another appointment..

It was great going out to the ranch again! 🐎 The friends listed above are horses. But the first one to welcome me back was one of the donkeys. Then Rusty came over and George.. George is the leader of the herd..he's one of the alphas.

I feel sad about Oliver. He must have gotten a double whammy. Not only was his best friend sold but then there were so many months when no one could come out to see him. A horse can't understand about a virus, even if you told him..he doesn't understand what it is. He probably felt abondoned (especially since Rio is gone).. he was just so nervous and jittery! I never saw him like that before. Hopefully he will feel better soon.. I gave him.a good brushing and i checked his belly for burdock (as he tends to get burdock burrs stuck on his belly)..

He was so happy when Rio was around!! He had just really woke up and had energy! Before that he was so sleepy and dead all of the time..and instead of being in the green pasture with the other horses eating the fresh green grass, he was all alone in the winter area with the dry hay. The gates are all open so he went there on his own.. hopefully he'll feel better now that I removed that bit mat off of his belly.

I was also thinking he might me mad at me because it's been months since I came out to see him. Normally Oliver loves me but he was moving away today. And like I said, you can't explain a virus shut down to a horse.

Now it's 12:50 ..

I'll see Oliver 2 we from now.

By tbe way, they used a temperature gun thingy on me and it read 75 F??

Are horses like cats, Sarah? They tend to play hard-to-get when you'v abandoned them for a while. I know single horses, like most animals, get lonely. I hate to see them alone. Suggest putting one of the donkeys in with Oliver for a while; I hope his mood is just psychological and not clinical. 75f is very low; you need to have your blood-pressure checked

message 2985: by Sarah (last edited Jun 05, 2020 05:06AM) (new)

Sarah B | 1532 comments Oliver can be with the other horses and donkeys whenever he wants. The gates are all open between the various areas. I think one reason why Oliver goes over there is because there is a fan in that shelter and because of his breed he likes the fan..no one has been brushing him off of these months because the ranch was closed. I only go there every 2 weeks. Other people live on the property and actually own the horses. None of the horses have stalls...they are just in open pasture with small shelters in various areas.

I'm sure the staff doesn't know how to use a temperature gun. Because one should have hyperthermia with a body temperature of 75 F. Of course I might have undiagnosed EDS and disautonomia often is a comorbidity to that and that can include temperature disregulation..

Poor Oliver, then he needs some TLC - so do you by the sound of it. I had never heard of dysautonomia; seems like something that won't like Covid 19. Take care venturing out.

message 2987: by Sarah (new)

Sarah B | 1532 comments I don't even catch colds or flu in winter...back on December 23 out on the ranch I broke through some ice and ended up in ice water halfway up to my knees..feet and socks were soaked. I stayed out for an hour with the herd. Didn't get even a sniffle..I have my diet down good. Keto. No grains. Interment fasting. Grass fed, pasture raised. I know they control POTS which is a form of disautonomia by eating salt. You can strengthen your immune system by eating real food (whole foods), get sun for vitamin D, avoid sugar, no grains, get exercise...I was out walking for 3 1/2 hours earlier today. Two hours was spent on trails in the woods, many of them rated difficult. It's great fun. I saw lots of chipmunks, redwinged blackbirds and even a Baltimore Oriole. Before this craziness started with riots, I would walk 10 or 11 miles along my route. Took me 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on how fast I was going.

It's 8:50 pm and I'm reading Our Man in Havana... hoping to finish it tonight. This book is rather funny and parts of it is making me laugh..

P.K. Davies | 549 comments Whatever you're doing, Sarah it seems to work. You are obviously lucky enough to live in a nice environment which always helps; I too get great joy from the many birds that feed in our gardens.
You are are a classicist reader; Dickens to Graham Greene. Our Man In Havana is one of his best in my opinion; he had then developed the light touch to his writing with the underlying tongue-in-cheek approach to the serious subjects (like politics and espionage) he chose to write about from his experience as a journalist and the British Foreign Office. It is interesting to compare his approach to those subjects with that of his pal, John Le Carre - and also interesting to compare his first published novel, Stamboul Train with his later work. There was a great need for improvement, which gives us all some comfort.
Keep enjoying nature; it is increasingly disappearing.
