Wise Cat (wisecat) This may not be the right place to post this but I can't find the answer otherwise.

Does one have to follow "ALL" discussions in a group? Is there a way to just follow the ones you want?

If I'm reading the options correctly, it seems it's an "all or nothing" thing. You either follow all discussions in the group or none (no notifications or e-mails on anything)

I don't have a lot of time on the computer, so I can't read all posts and don't even have time to follow all discussions if I wanted to!

Someone help me out?

I thought you could change the option for each individual discussion, but maybe that's not in groups, only in something else?

I'm not too bad with computers for the most part but I'd like to simplify how many topics I get "notifications" on. I mean I haven't even read some of the books being discussed.

Thank you.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) You can do both.

If you follow the group, you'll get notifications of all discussions at whatever frequency you've selected.

However, you can set the GROUP to no notifications in your settings, and follow individual discussions three different ways:

1) You can change your account settings to default follow any thread that you comment on.
So, by default you would not be following anything, but if you comment on a thread, the system would then follow it for you.

2) You can manually follow discussions. In every comment thread you'll see "Notify me when people comment" near the comment box. If you click this, then it will follow the thread for you. This will instantly follow the thread without a comment.

3) Under the comment box in a thread as a checkbox: Notify me when people reply. This will manually set the thread to follow after you post your comment.

Either way, whether you use the link or the box, you will be able to see the individual threads you are following in your account settings/Emails page. There's a link that says something like "See all threads I'm following".

Wise Cat (wisecat) Becky, Thank you for your response. :-) We'll seen what happens now as I think I have it set so it will only follow discussions I comment on. I couldn't follow everything even if I wanted to!

There's no forum for tech help on the site or a Q & A for us technically challenged, LOL. Thank you again!

How did you get "Ka-Tet" to appear after your name in italics, yet not as an active link like "Becky" is? I just noticed that. See how much I don't know about this site?

I'm not real active on it but I plan to visit bit more now.

There is, actually. There's a help page, which you can access by going to Goodreads.com/help, or scrolling to the bottom of the page and looking for the link.

Or, you can join the Goodreads Feedback group (located in the "Official Groups" on the Groups page. You can ask questions and suggest enhancements or learn about new features of the site there. Many people who use the site a lot are in that group, and can help you figure out whatever you need help with, as well as site staff.

And yes, that Ka-Tet is my mod title... only moderators can add them.

Wise Cat (wisecat) Thanks guys! I didn't even know about that Goodreads Feedback group or the Help page! I guess I don't spend enough time browsing on it to find things.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me that Becky is a moderator so she can add "a little extra" to her name. :-) I've seen it done on other sites so I don't know I didn't think of that!

It's cool, Betsy. These were some images I thought were really amazing. Here we had some rain and wind, but we're safe. Some family is still without power, but we helped them get a generator. Hopefully soon they'll be up and running good again.

Wise Cat (wisecat) My heart is with you all with all those floods...while the Southwest BAKES. :-(

I guess I should have posted this discussion in the Feedback Group but I didn't know about it! Now I will and will join the group too.
