I want to read the Stormlight novella but but some of the other items are retreads previously published.

No. I've read quite a number of them, but not all yet. If I visit Brandon Sanderson's author page on goodreads, I've read almost all the books that show up on the first page. After that, it decreases.

No. I don't know if I'll do White Sand. Graphic novels aren't my thing. I've read up on how the different worlds intersect and the different shard holders etc. but I've been trying to space Sanderson out since I enjoy his works so much.
Really I thought you would have. It looks like the only cosmere books are elantris, the mistborn books, warbreaker and the stormlight archive books. Also a lot of short stories but I think pretty much all of them will be in this collection. I am looking forward to the elantris sequels since it didn't seem finished with just the first book.
I've only read the first three Mistborn, all of Stormlight, just Elantris with none of the others in that world and no Warbreaker. Also none of the other shorts from other worlds.

Oh, then I suppose I have read all of his cosmere books so far. I just haven't read the short stories.

Did you guys read that sanderson sold the rights to the cosmere books and they are going to make a movie on way of kings and mistborn. The company and writers have me worried though since the writers are from the movie saw. I also think tv show adaptations would have worked a lot better...

Mistborn might make an okay movie if it is done right, but it wouldn't be great. I cannot imagine The Way of Kings being made into a movie...it's just way too vast for a 2-3hr film.

I think they both might play better as a TV series. Keep in mind just because the rights are sold that doesn't mean anything. Wheel of Time had it's rights sold a decade ago and there's been nothing.
So I put in a hold on this book from the library. They have it on order to buy so I have no idea when I'll get it but it will be a good way to get to the Stormlight Novella and I'll probably read the other things I haven't to date.

I'm not sure how I feel about any of the Cosmere books being made into a movie or series. Part of me would love for it to happen, but I have a feeling I would be disappointed with the end result. Steelheart and Firefight were optioned to FOX over a year ago and nothing has come of that yet either.
As for Arcanum Unbounded - it's nice that all the short stories will be put into a collection. I've read all but "Edgedance" so I'm undecided whether I will be buying it or waiting to see if my library gets it in.

I just find most of the collection books like this aren't worth it and at $14.95 on Kindle it's just not a great value.

I'll get the hardcover even though I've read most of them. Mainly because of the additional Cosmere stuff (yea I'm a bit of a geek).
Maybe Mistborn might work as a series of movies, if they're done right, but I would much rather prefer Stormlight to be a TV series (ideally on HBO or Netflix). I already preordered my copy because I know it has extra Cosmere stuff in it (so I'm with you TS!) and because it'll just look good in my Sanderson collection! :D
I picture Mistborn being very easy to do in the same way shows like Buffy, Vampire Diaries or any of that teen ilk are done. How good it would be would depend upon how much Hollywood cheese they insert.
I totally agree that Stormlight would have to be done in a GOT's type manner. The problem with doing a series like this or Malazan is how the producers get across all of that internal conflict. These books are so much about the mental aspect beyond the magic, war, etc. and that's what makes them epic.

I think someone like Christopher Nolan could give Mistborn that edge. Kind of like how he had all that tension with Inception or the Batman movies, but hopefully not like the Superman ones ;)
I just don't know if he could pull off the lighter moments with the crew or with Elend and Vin.. I just keep picturing that scene with the Joker and the "pencil disappearing"

These are going to make the book worth buying already... http://www.tor.com/2016/11/07/arcanum...

The shards, world, gods.........of the Cosmere are really an interesting topic. It's definitely worth reading up on.
I just got it in the mail today. I like how it tells you at the begining of each story when it should be read so you don't spoil anything.
I read eleventh metal and hope of elantris. Both of those were very short and inconsequential but pleasant nonetheless. Hope of elantris was a nice little side Story from the end of elantris but I felt it bordered on feeling sappy. I liked revisiting some of the characters briefly. It was also nice to see kelsier again in eleventh metal.
This came in at the library so I started it. It was either that or be at the end of a 16 person waiting list which I'm sure was only going to grow.
The Emperor's Soul is the first book within the book. It is simply amazing how quickly and simply Sanderson world builds. By the end of two chapters you're immersed.

Same here. I borrowed mine a few days ago so I can read it while it still has that new book smell ;)So far I've only read the preface and flipped through the book a little. Very nicely put together, and I love the constellations on the inside covers.
I've just finished this. And all I can say is OMG on all the Cosmere info. The solar system essays by Khriss alone will garner a 5-star rating from me. Rereading the stories, like Shadows for Silence and Sixth of the Dusk, with Cosmere knowledge changed things. And the Edgedancer novella - really helped to scratch my Stormlight itch.
Love this book!
The Cosmos info that I've read so far I mostly knew already. I read Stormlight first of anything and Hoid was referenced as world hopper. So when I read Mistborn and head the name Hoid a light when on and I research it mostly via Wiki and 17th shard. It's pretty impressive if you go read just about all the shards, holder, glyphs..........

But somehow seeing it being published for real with the star charts.. just makes it more awesome. :)
Ahh, it looks like I've decided one thing at least that I'll be using any gift cards I get this year on. :)
I enjoyed Edgedancer. Lift was a little bit like a Kruppe overload after a while though. Getting updates on Nale and Szeth, some new radiants and being were all interesting.
Edgedancer was a fun novella, and I enjoyed Lift's perspective. I was very excited to learn she will have a bigger role in the future - really looking forward to seeing her as a key player.
