I don't think you're able to add your own series. I have to ask the goodreads librarians to change my series each time I add a book. What you can do is change your titles so they look like this:Stillness (Really Cool Series #1)
Taken (Really Cool Series #2)
I think the librarians automatically put mine into a series because of the title, but I can't remember now, haha. You might have to ask them to do that eventually.
Yep. That happens to everyone. You can't add series or characters yourself. But...The librarians are all sorts of awesome sauce! They'll probably have it done for you withing 15 mins.

Besides, if you don't do anything, the chances are GR will pick it by itself and mention them as part of the series. Happened to me

I see. As I occasionally put them into a series and then break them apart again into standalones, can be somewhat uncomfortable -:)

The books are based on the same nucleus of characters, but stylistically they are very different and I'm not even sure speak to the same readership, so occasionally I experiment with downplaying their positioning as part of the series and emphasize their autonomy through filling and deleting the relevant entry on Amazon

Amazon lets you change whatever the heck you want as long as it keeps selling ^_~Seriously, though. I released a 2nd edition with MAJOR edits. This should require a different ASIN but I didn't want to start from scratch for reviews sooo...
I uploaded a new source file and asked to have the new version "pushed" to customers. They are NOT supposed to do this for a different edition. But they did anyway. Of course, I was really, reeeally nice to the dude from KDP and he totally did me a favor...

Done it a few times, so far. Don't know. Why should they care though? As I understand it, it's an optional entry and I get to decide whether to fill it or not and generally to decide what, if anything forms the series. But maybe not. What do you think?
Series drive sales more than standalone. So if they're at all alike, I'd put them in a series. They're all on the same genre--thriller--and they have the same nucleus of charaCters and it appears to me that they all take place in the Same geographical area. Therefore if the "style" is more of a matter of degree--like less hardboiled--then I'd put them together. Btw, you might consider, if you haven't already, syncing up your covers w/ your latest, be first or be dead

i see. well, perhaps putting them all in a series will provide him w/the necessary incentive. covers in a series should be similar in look and feel in order to give that united feel and make the reader value the sum of the series greater than the individual books. thereby, perceived value would be increased.

It just I like to reshuffle things -:)Re the covers - yeah I've run sort of a poll here on GR and most respondents didn't like the covers of the first two, while most did - of the third. So ordering new covers is on the agenda, although I like all three of them

BTW, thinking of series. Did Conan Doyle actually present Sherlock Holmes as 'series'? I was under impression novels and shorts were autonomous, but I can't be sure, as it was a long time ago when I read them or most of them ...

With the rules I've set up for the multiverse, I could theoretically claim each of my previous works exist within that multiverse and could provide crossover potential even though each individual universe exists at a different point in time with different histories and backstories...I won't actually create a crossover between two of my different universes, but I find it amusing that it's a very real possibility...

This is slightly off topic...*looks over shoulder for katana*...but does anyone have a phone number for KDP? It's been more than 72 hours now "publishing" my second book while my third is live for sale. Kinda want to know what's up.

they have 'help' at the top right of kdp screen. Once you press, they have 'contact us' down left. Then you chose category or write your own, if I remember correctly

I made major edits to the content first (2nd edition) and then decided to change the cover later on. But I actually broke the ISBN/ASIN rule for new editions...
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT recommending that anyone else do this!!
I actually slid everything into the source file, as per normal. And changed the (view spoiler). You're not supposed to do that haha! Then I asked my new KDP buddy to "push" the 2nd edition to existing readers. As in, they'd just open up their Kindle and find the new one has replaced the old one. You're not supposed to do this either hahaha!!
As far as Amazon is concerned, I've only ever released one edition.
Again, NOT recommending! I just didn't want my reviews to start back at zero for the new edition...

Oh, and with the cover? I also just changed it myself. This follows Zon rules, though. So go for it!! ^_~
