Because the word "Ship" is not in the title of the book.

Duh! I knew I was being stupid, but just couldn't see where, which is why I posted again. I think I was interpreting the task as "make a word from the letters of the title that are also in Apprenticeship". Thanks for clearing it up. Sorry to bother you. There goes my Teacher's Pet Award....

Langullande, I'm glad I'm not alone...I made the exact error on this task and it took me awhile to see it-I interpreted the task the same way, also costing me a chance at Teacher's Pet and ruining my streak of staying off the problem thread :/

Task 15.1 - The task states that the only variation allowed from words on the list is plurals and possessives. The word on the Spring list is "changing" - this is not the same as "life-changing." The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. See the FAQs for the default rules on hyphenated words.

Task 15.2 -
The BFG includes Childrens as a main page genre:
Childrens - 2026 users
Fiction 1,349 users
Young Adult 542 users

Please review the Rules of the Challenge for the requirements for using childrens books.

Task 20.1. Please review the Rules of the Challenge for the rules for determining page numbers of ebooks and audiobooks. There are two paperback editions of My Lady Jane, and neither has a "9" in the number of pages. We do not use the ebook page numbers.

Please do not repost the other tasks in your post, as those have been recorded.

Kaity | 358 comments Hiya :) I believe I'm missing a couple of Big Book Tickets. I'm listed as having one so my most recent two in the same post were likely the ones missed (post #2354). I should have 3 total.

Thanks for checking!

So sorry, Kait - found and fixed, it will show up in the next update. Things are a little hectic right now, so thanks for making it easy for me by including the link!!

Task 25.7 specifies that "You may read one or two books for this task, but the total number of pages read must be at least 600. If you choose to read two books, both must qualify for the same option. "

You have listed two books from different options, so this combination does not work for the task.

Kim A post 2453

Task 25.1 specifically provides that childrens books cannot be used for the task. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
includes Childrens as a main page genre:
Fantasy 42,687 users
Young Adult 13,836 users
Fiction 11,935 users
Fantasy>Magic 3,924 users
Childrens 3,433 users
Adventure 2,269 users
Classics 1,615 users
Science Fiction Fantasy 1,311 users
Childrens>Middle Grade 1,204 users
Novels 976 users

That book cannot be used for this task.

Blueberry post 2466
For book 1, you refer to task 20.2 opt.B. Task 20.2, book 2, requires: "2. Read a book that has a carnival ride OR any kind of tent on the cover. Required: Include the cover."
An exploding apple does not fit this requirement.
Also, if you are using a cover task, you'll need to include the cover.

Task 25.3 - The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations for Clarity, Effectiveness, and Serenity does not have religion listed as a main page genre. Fortunately, it does have philosophy listed, which is allowed by the task.

No need to repost.

Laura NT post 2501

In order to be used for an SRC task, any subtitle (or text on the cover of the book) must be included in the Goodreads record as a subtitle. UnClobber does not include a subtitle.

Please check your totals - you had 540 after your previous post, plus 50 this post, giving you a total of 590.

No need to repost - this is just to keep totals synched.

The individual book you claimed, Secret Desires, appears to only exist in an ebook and an audiobook version. If you have had it approved for length in the ebook verification thread, please repost, indicating the spreadsheet line or post #. If you haven't, you'll need to do that before posting. Justme | 256 comments I claimed it as part of an omnibus/collection:
I have included the link for the actual pb I have read, as well as the ebook originally published individually. The page numbers come from the print book. Since I actually read the print book, I thought that would count over anything related to an ebook.

"Books identified as an "omnibus" (a volume of reprinted works of a single author or of related works), as a "bundle" (a digital collection of works of a single author or of related works) or as collected works (The Complete .... , anthologies, etc.) may be isolated into component parts and read separately as long as the isolated work has been published separately and meets the minimum page requirements. The Harry Bosch Novels, Volume 1: The Black Echo / The Black Ice / The Concrete Blonde contains 3 independently published titles: The Black Echo, The Black Ice, The Concrete Blonde. These titles in this omnibus may be read as separate books.

If you choose to read an element isolated from an aggregate work, you MUST include a link to the book (isbn/asin) that you read AND provide a link to a separately published work that relates to the isolated title. The use of particular title words, cover colors, or cover images to fulfill tasks applies to the actual book that you read. That means:
>tasks involving elements in the title/subtitle are determined by the isolated work
>tasks involving the author/author name are determined by the isolated work
>tasks involving the book's cover are determined by the book that you read. If an omnibus includes individual covers for the isolated works use the cover for the individual title. If the only cover image is the cover of the aggregate work use that cover.

Page numbers should be determined by the copy you read. If a component part has 200 pages in the print edition you read, record those numbers. For digital or audio formats follow the page number guidelines in item 7 above for the isolated title."

Thanks Bea, I just saw this message. I actually linked to the wrong one because the one I meant to link to is the AudioCD + Book version and that one did have the page count. They are identical books though I think.

I'll repost.

note the language in what you just cited - " Books identified as an "omnibus" (a volume of reprinted works of a single author or of related works), as a "bundle" (a digital collection of works of a single author or of related works) or as collected works (The Complete .... , anthologies, etc.) may be isolated into component parts and read separately as long as the isolated work has been published separately and meets the minimum page requirements.

There is nothing in the Goodreads data to indicate that the "isolated work" here meets the minimum page requirements.

While it is fine to include more than one task in a post, the tasks must be posted in numerical order, lowest to highest.

See the Posting Requirements and post 1 in this thread.

Justme | 256 comments There is nothing in the Goodreads data to indicate that the "isolated work" here meets the minimum page requirements.

The pb is listed as: "Paperback, 264 pages" including book 1 & 2
The ebook is listed as: "ebook, 111 pages"
and the physical book ends on pg 123 (literally says "the end").

I guess I don't understand what info you are missing? I won't complete the challenge, so it doesn't really matter, but I'm sure this issue will come up again when I read Bk 2 tomorrow+. Since I'm new, I need a nudge in the right direction, thanks.

Check the document linked in post 1. The ebook is already listed there. Repost with that information.

Crud. I was hoping that wouldn't happen. I only re-shifted that around yesterday and as both times I checked, it was there, I didn't even bother to get it verified. Blah. Stupid GR! Ok, I will move them to some other tasks. Thanks.
