Marie Silk | 1025 comments GOT IT!! *fireworks* *heavens open* *angels sing* :D

I hope it lasts long enough for Bookbub's team to see it. I submitted my book to them this morning for the first time.

Justin (justinbienvenue) Congrats Marie!
So when you run a free days promotion for a book and it hits #1 it won't become a best seller? It only happens if you do a Kindle Countdown? I just wanted to make sure I got that right.

Best of luck to you in getting your other books to such a great status!

Marie Silk | 1025 comments Thank you, everyone!! :)

Justin, when you put your book on free promotion, it is listed in the "Free" kindle store instead of the "Paid" kindle store. You have to be in the paid store to get the best seller label, and it happens when you reach the #1 spot of any of your book's categories.

My book sells a lot of copies the day after the free day, and that is why it reaches a high rank in the paid store after the promotion ends.

Marie Silk | 1025 comments Well, it was nice while it lasted ha. An award winning book that happens to be REQUIRED READING IN SCHOOLS went on sale yesterday and snagged the #1 spot. *sigh*

Next mission: get my book to be required reading in schools. I am not even kidding. I don't know if it will be "required" reading, but it can at least have a presence since it is suitable for young adults and explores many of the social issues of early 1900s America. Someday! :)

So does that mean you no longer get to keep the flag? I mean you are an amazon bestselling author why shouldn't you get to keep the flag?

Marie Silk | 1025 comments Sadly, they take it away from you as soon as you get bumped from the #1 spot. It's okay, I can frame the screenshot and hang it on the wall and be a best seller in my own little world :D.

Worth opening a school to pioneer this requirement -:)

Once a Best Seller Always a Best Seller...

Its a title you can hold forever "Amazon Best Selling Author!"

Marie Silk | 1025 comments Here is an update on my pre-order and ranks:

I estimated that I would get 100 pre-orders for my Book 5, which released yesterday. I got 85 pre-orders and 5 more sales the day of, totaling 90 sales of Book 5 on release day. This got it the #3 spot in its category yesterday, but with only a few sales of Book 5 today, it moved down to #4.

My Book 1 has been going back and forth between the #2 and #3 spots which seems a pretty good result for 6 days after the promotion.

September ended up being my biggest month yet with 500 unit sales and 84K+ pages read on Kindle Unlimited (roughly 700 books). It still boggles my mind that this many people are interested in my books. So cool!

As I figure things out, I know I can do better with the promotions. I'm going to plan the promos using what I have learned so far as I enter this new Select enrollment period. I want to run another countdown deal of the sequels with the free promotion of Book 1, but can only do a countdown once in every 90 days so I have to time it carefully :).

On Thursday night, I listed my Book 6 for pre-order, and already have some pre-orders for it.

My goal is to break my own records each month!

Marie Silk | 1025 comments So this is pretty neat :) it's been 4 weeks since I released my fifth book, and it got the #1 Best Seller spot today. Very encouraging!

Quantum (quantumkatana) Is that all paid kindle or historical fiction? Regardless of which one, it is still a notable achievement!

Marie Silk | 1025 comments Haha just U.S. historical fiction, Alex. I think the new Harry Potter book has the #1 spot in the whole Kindle store :).

Edit: the #1 book in the paid Kindle store is Evelyn After

I would love to have that rank someday :).
