I might be a bit late starting and start Wednesday. I had a headache almost all weekend and got little reading done (in between seeing all the awesome authors at the book festival) :)

oooooh dramatic, sighing Cathy(view spoiler)[ this beginning, she's somehow more annoying to me than the first book. I hope she bucks up soon. she keeps saying she doesn't want to be a simpering girl dependent on a man...but she seems confused on what that means.
School should be interesting for her (hide spoiler)]

Doctor(view spoiler)[ that was so nice of him to take them in and really care for them. they got very lucky
I keep having to remind myself this was written a long time ago so the legal rules of now don't apply (hide spoiler)]

Chris (view spoiler)[ Man, it'd be really interesting to see how they could cope if he went away to college. He is mad for Cathy, and I know that even if he went to college he'd still be in love with her. (hide spoiler)]

Cathy(view spoiler)[ ugh. that kid. I think she's acting exactly like her mother. Flighty and ridiculous - she's just doing whatever she wants and hurting everyone in her path. I can't believe how much she is seducing everyone and trying to have relationships with everyone. She seems to need to be the prettiest and most wanted woman in the room - just like her mom. Chris(view spoiler)[ I worry for him. I'm so so sad that he can't move on. He needs to. They are out, and he's making his dreams come true (hide spoiler)]

Julian(view spoiler)[ I have no idea why she married this guy. he was so brazen and abusive - holding her against her will and touching her when she clearly didn't want it. and now he doesn't want her to see any family except Carrie AND he said he's a violent drunk. oh fun :( (hide spoiler)]

Paul(view spoiler)[ Yuck. He was first looking at her all hungry when she was 14. 14!!! UGH! I remember she turned 15 and was already trying to seduce him. their whole romance is just gross to me. I'm glad she didn't marry him but I don't like Julian either
Paul should have set better boundaries and let her know that she can have a male figure in her life that doesn't want her sexually. She's obviously confused with how "physical" her mom was with Chris and then how she and Chris are. She needed ONE guy in her life that just loved her and didn't want more. I'm sad that couldn't be him (hide spoiler)]

gah. this book....Cathy(view spoiler)[ is getting on my every last nerve. her marriage to Julian was awful and she just...kept stringing everyone else along while she kept him.

Through Part II!

Cathy - (view spoiler)[ I hate how she thinks herself a woman and she acts like a girl. It is kind of sad to see how she gets treated but she leads people on and it's mostly her fault. I do not know how to feel about her and Julian. First Christopher, then Paul, then Julian. I honestly do not know what turn this series will take. (hide spoiler)]

Christoper - (view spoiler)[ I'm happy that he is becoming a doctor and that his dreams are coming true, although it's sad to see that he is so attached to Cathy and can't let her go, when she obviously uses him when he's close. (hide spoiler)]

Carrie - (view spoiler)[ God, how I feel for this girl. Even though she is no sweet angel to people, I still feel sad that she is disproportionate and that people made fun for her. The Owl chapter broke my heart. It's sad to see how she tries to prove herself to a mother that is not there and that she still has to use her dolls to comfort her. (hide spoiler)]

Paul - (view spoiler)[ Lol, what is up with V.C. Andrews and older men?! I love that he took the children in as his ward, although I kind of feel it's unrealistic that so much attention is given to Corrine and news of her not showing to court do not get out. He is totally creepy towards Cathy and idk how to feel about that they didn't get married because I don't approve of Julian either. When I got to Cathy's and Paul's sex scene I felt so awkward and feel like it is there to reassure the point that Cathy needs stability. (hide spoiler)]

Julian (view spoiler)[ *breathes in and sighs emotionally* I believe that this what could've happened if Christopher had gone awry with her. He loves her way too much but he also wants her in ways that Cathy does not return. They make an amazing dancing couple, but after their wedding, I'm not sure how things can go. I hope that he can learn to love her the way she deserves and Cathy can find some emotion for him. I'm not even sure if I'm #TeamPaul, #TeamChris, or #TeamJulian. (hide spoiler)]

It's kind of sad how Cathy looks for Cory and can't find him.
