PamG (lynguy1) | 2574 comments Here is my 4.13 rounded to 4 stars review of The Night Collector by Victor Methos:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Legal / Crime Thriller
2nd book in the Vegas Shadows series
Well-crafterd plot, great characterization, suspenseful
Investigation and Trial
I didn't like the ending. The case is solved, but there's a major situation that is left up in the air. Otherwise, this would have been a 5-star read for me.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Literary Gothic Historical Fiction
This didn't feel like horror to me although others have categorized it as such.
This is great world-building and atmosphere.
I wanted more suspense and danger and a faster pace. It was extremely slow.

Carolyn | 1643 comments Please Don't Lie (Crystal River, #1) by Christina Baker Kline Please Don't Lie by Christina Baker Kline & Anne Burt is a slow burn of a psychological suspense. Set in an isolated mountain location, it's eerie and unsettling, but the ending seemed rushed after a slow build up.

Historical Mystery and Action Thriller
15th book in the Isaac Bell series
Overall, this is a briskly paced and entertaining page-turner that kept me engaged throughout the suspenseful, intriguing, and high stakes historical thriller. The book was terrific and transported this reader into the dark and terrifying world of a historical war. It was a rich assortment of history, politics, espionage, and war brought together with great world-building and an action-filled plot.

PattyMacDotComma | 1272 comments So far, I've enjoyed everything I've read by Aussie author Michael Robotham. For many years, he was a journalist in London, a place he knows well, where The White Crow is set. I like the premise of the daughter of a gangster being a young detective. Of course, Philomena's always suspected by both sides of leaking information, but Robotham makes it work.

Outlier opinion

Fantasy
Book 1 in the Fallen City duology
Dual timelines and dual points of view adversely affected the flow of this story.
While it kept me interested in the outcome, I didn't fully engage with the characters.
On top of that, it has a cliffhanger ending.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Action-Adventure / Mystery
2nd book in the Gabriela Rose series
Fun, light, and entertaining
Plenty of over-the-top scenarios. If you can just "go with it" and not try to make them something more substantial, it's entertaining.
Character depth improved with this book.
Gabriela is completely different from Stephanie Plum so readers should expect significant differences.
