Hi everyone! I'm currently on holiday so I'm not going to be able to use Goodreads a lot. But on the 1st my holidays end and I will be a 100% dedicated to the challenge :)What's everyone reading? I have yet to plan my books...
Welcome Laura :) I have no idea what I'll end up reading next month, still focusing on Aug right now. I'm a mood reader though and need to do whatever I have to review so I rarely plan ahead and just pick whatever I need to when I'm done with one.

Thank you Carrie. I actually can't wait until this challenge begins. I'm not starting a new book until the 1st, and it's hard for me to wait.Do any of you know what you will be reading during this challenge? I know that I will be reading the Anna trilogy by Stephanie Perkins, but everything else I read is dependent upon the return dates for my library books.
Feel free to list what books you plan on reading. Also, do any of you plan on joining in some buddy reads? If so, for which books?

I'm planning on reading the Beautiful Creatures series, as well as numerous other standalone novels
I'd like to at least read the first book of the Beautiful Creatures series if you want to buddy that one, I'm good for anytime. :)

Okay Carrie, i'm down to buddying. I've never buddy read a book before so I'm unsure as to how it works :/
Buddy reads will double the points we get for reading a book this month so say it's worth 3 and we make comments on the thread it would be worth 6 instead. You just need to make at least 4 comments with the spoiler tags as you read to count. But, I scanned the thread for people looking for buddies and there are a couple of others interested in Beautiful Creatures too. They seem to be looking to set it up the 15th. Would that work for you and we could just join them or would you rather another time?

What are some books on your guys TBR?
I just started my first book. I have a mixture of genres on my TBR. Mostly adult though. The only YA that I can think of off of the top of my head is the Anna trilogy by Stephanie perkins.

If I do like the first book I can also continue on with the series with you if you'd like.
I read mainly review books but squeeze in some others here and there when those are caught up. I'm going to join a couple of BRs set up here the 3rd and 4th for ones I want to read but if anyone else has anything in mind I can see if my library has it if it sounds like one I'd like.
Oh and yes, I read pretty much anything really, adult, new adult, young adult, mystery/thriller, romance, fantasy, paranormal, etc etc etc. I could go on and on. LOL
If you like the first book, I'd love to continue the rest with you!!!

Since you haven't done them before just thought I'd let you know too that it is OK to start a little early or later than the actual date requested if you need to. I think Sarah said like 7-10 days before or after. But it will double your book points if you just make four comments on the thread while reading it. :)
I'm really into cozy mysteries (mainly ones with cats) now so I went to the library and checked some out. I should be finishing 1-2 more books today.
I finished one and halfway through another but just haven't written the review on the first yet, should get that done I suppose.
Sarah has changed the points to include books starting at 25-49 pages will be 0.25 pts along with the graphics/poetry etc from 75-149 so if anyone has anything really short it may now count too.
I'm finally back from my holidays and I'm focusing 100% on reading these days. I still have to plan what to read and I'll definitely join some buddy reads.
I have not forgotten about this challenge, I have found a WiFi spot temporarily but these first few days have been more city break so not loads of time for reading. I will be moving somewhere else tomorrow where I intend to read lots and I think there may be WiFi hopefully.
We're doing great so far. Going to be a high scoring month with this points system but I kind of like the ones that give more points for the pages than the normal 1 pt for up to 450 pgs system. I usually end up with a bunch that are not quite high enough to get 2 pts but take me forever to read for only 1 pt.
Oh thats a pain only 1 point because i was 10 pages short on my last book :(
Exactly! I always seem to have a bunch of review books that are just not quite long enough but I need to get read that month. Loving that we get a bit extra this month for those lengthier ones. :)

Yes, they changed it up for this challenge which is great. I know a lot of people are enjoying having the graphic novels and things included again too. :)
Carrie, how did you feel about those two Sarah J. Maas? I've been thinking about picking them up, but I'm nervous about fantasy.
I really liked the first one but I love fantasy. I'm usually one that can get bored easily but the pace was pretty good in it and I liked the idea of adding Fae to be the "beast" in a beauty and the beast retelling. However, I wasn't a fan of the second book. It reminded me a lot of one I'd just read that I didn't care for so while the writing style is still good I just didn't like where the story went in book 2 but I'm in the minority with that opinion. Lots of people love them so if you're interested I'd say give them a shot. :)

I answered you on the other board but yes you do. As long as you're near the date you still get the credit for at least 4 comments. :) I've been trying to pick up books from my library of the reads already set up and then I often end up being the only one commenting even though I wasn't one that requested it, rather strange.
I asked Sarah once about the timing too and she said usually they'd like to keep it to 7-10 days before or after the start date for the buddy read or the last comment made from those who may have joined that one.

Nice job this month ladies, I'm finishing up the last of my reviews but just wanted to say good luck in Oct if you guys are taking part in the challenge. :)

Points:
*25 - 49 pages = 0.25 points

*Buddy reads DOUBLE your points score, so a 300 page book + buddy read = 6 points. (Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in our group.)
*You may have as many re-reads as you like ☺
Rules:
* This challenge will run from September 1st to September 30th, with results announced on October 1st.
*Books started before September can be used, but you must only claim the number of pages read in September.
*Buddy reads must still have a minimum of 4 comments to count.
*4 detailed updates can be used instead of a review.
