Graciella was vehemently against Terry taking the case. Did you understand her point of view?

I didn't understand why she didn't want him working on these cases. He started out reviewing a case file and she was very upset about it. I don't think there is inherent danger in reviewing the file. Of course, she knew that Terry wasn't going to stop there if he found something in the file...and she was right.

[Charlene]

I understood her point of view, absolutely. But when he realized his gifts were still useful and rewarding, I was also sympathetic to his needs.

It seemed a bit hypocritical to me. After all, she was fine with him investigating her sister's case and even helped him with it.

Frankly, I didn't know where this sentiment came from, especially her vehemence. I could see her being reluctant to have him go through the stress of it but there was something a bit selfish about her position.

I read Blood Work a very long time ago, so I cannot remember how that story ends but I think Terry lived at that time on his boat in Long Beach or San Pedro (?). So, when this story opens with Terry living on Catalina, it said to me that he had left "the life" behind.

I'm guessing they moved there with the understanding that he would be finished with case work. If that assumption's true (?), I can see her opposition to his getting himself involved here.
