Nicky (varsas) | 10 comments I noticed the Ms Marvel comics are in series, a feature I'd not seen.

Other comics need to be done like https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... and I don't have the permissions to do it myself.

Justine Barnes | 31 comments Hi Nicky,

I've noticed this about comics on here as well since I recently started reading DC Universe Rebirth. The lack of uniformity in listing comics is unfortunate, but I'm hoping to make some headway in this area now that I have librarian status! :-) This is a good example I think, though there are some differences in how the titles are listed even in the link you provided.

I've been searching though the Librarians Group discussions to see if there has been any other feed back about how comics are listed before I started working myself, so it was good to see this!

Nicky (varsas) | 10 comments Hi Justine,
I just obtained librarian status too so I'm starting to do some series for Marvel.

I'm grouping single issues and will also include volume/collected editions too if they aren't already in a series.

I've seen some series that include collected editions and some that just have the collected editions. Not sure which is best and whether the collected ones should be the primary works at the top of the series list.

Thoughts?

Nicky

Justine Barnes | 31 comments I'm not sure since if one contained #1-12 it could hypothetically be before #1 or after #12, but I think it would be contained in the same series since it is part of the series. I would personally think listing it after the last one it contains would be good since it incorporates everything above it on the list, but when you're writing the numbers in on the series page, you'd write 1-12 (for this example) and GR orders it on the series list how it sees fit I believe.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments The order is set manually by the librarian. 1-12 and all other combined issues should be after all the single issue entries.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments Sorry for follow-up, can't edit posts on the tablet app. Multi-issue entries are not primary works, but may comprise their own additional series if they are numbered volumes.

Justine Barnes | 31 comments Thanks for the clarification Krazykiwi! That'll be helpful to keep in mind.

Nicky (varsas) | 10 comments Cool. I'll proceed with this in mind and make corrections as necessary :)

Nicky (varsas) | 10 comments Collected editions are numbered e.g. Volume 1. What I'll do is put the collected version after the last issue included but not number the entry for the collection in the series. Numbers in the series only applying on the individual issues.
