I love how this chapter goes in parallel with Sam's in AFFC. I was a bit lost for a minute there when Jon was chanting kill the boy over and over. But then I learn what it was, and I kinda love the story behind it. Can't wait to read Dunk & Egg with you guys right after ADWD :DOn the brighter note, who would think Jon could have avenged his father's death this way? Way to go, Lord Commander!
One: I was confused at first with the "kill the boy". Then it was clear. Aemon is a smart man. Unfortunately, I was thinking about Bill Cosby stand up when he repeats "kill the boy. Yes, kill the boy".
Two: Gilly KNEW! For some reason I thought Jon switched the babes. I didn't know it was planned. Mind blown.
Three: Good for Jon. Really acting like Ned right there. Glad he didn't hang him. Janos is weak and deserves to be cut down by Jon. He definitely "killed the boy" there.

Right! I never would have thought she knew. I thought Jon was being sneaky. I hope her baby will be okay.
It's kind of interesting going back to where Sam's journey started in A Feast for Crows but seeing it from another perspective."Kill the boy and let the man be born."
I so did not see that coming! Well, Jon officially grew up a bit! lol
Oh my I love this chapter. Kill the boy, it's a bit haunting. I wonder if he will do that from now on. I would have liked to have this chapter in the last book. Still very annoyed at the way he split these two books.

I don't know, I think it would've ruined the plot-twist with the baby exchange. Besides, wouldn't it be weird to read two chapters so alike in the same book? The parallel reading worked out better this way, and it served as a reminder of what happened in the previous book.
Jon's still not sure what the right thing to do is, though. He's trying to "kill the boy", but he's still a boy. And no matter how hard he tries to act like a man, he'll be a boy for quite some time yet. Just like it was with Robb. It's normal. I wish there was a way to compare XXI century Earth children with Westeros children in terms of maturity. I guess the Westeros kids would win by a long shot, but it'll still be curious to see. I'd also love to see ASoIaF people in our world. Imagine if someone just dumped them here out of nowhere. I wonder how they'd cope.

I actually thought this chapter started off boring, seeing Sam's chapter from the prior book repeated from a different perspective. But the Janos Slynt part made up for it BIG TIME! I'm glad to see Jon stepping up. No one will question his authority now. Even Stannis just gave him a look of acknowledgement at the end and that guy doesn't give anyone their due.
