Yes, to me the best scenes are always between Sebastian and Hero. I find myself looking forward to those.
I'm in the same camp; I want to read more. The mystery is always balanced by the personal relationships and history. Great stories.
I'm curious about how people feel about Sebastian's continued strained relationship with Hendon. Do people feel Sebastian is still justified in continuing to punish Hendon by excluding him from his life even in light of the fact that he has found love and happiness with Hero? Is it truly the loss of Kat that still angers and hurts him, or is it that the man he knew as his father could trick him in such a way (as to let him think he was sleeping with his half-sister)?
That's a great question, Veronica.
I think it's time for Sebastian to forgive him. Hendon had justifiable reasons to not let him know about his paternity. Yes, Sebastian had a right to be incensed. But to continue this behavior is beneath him.
Somehow I think the grandchild will end this nonsense.

Oh, how I love this series. This story was a good one, particularly all that I continue to learn historically. The Hope diamond's origin was a revelation. Didn't know about the term "Molly" being applied to homosexuals.
It goes without saying, every scene with Hero and Sebastian is just dessert.

I agree, it's high time to mend those fences. Hendon isn't going to live forever and there's more to being a father than donating the DNA.

In addition to the Hope Diamond, I also learned about the fever Rhys suffered from, though the exact name escapes me at the moment. Hmmm, maybe the knowledge didn't stick, lol.
Love the historical tidbits and the romance. Regarding Sebastian and Hendon, I think that Sebastian is finding it hard to forgive not because Hendon lied to him about Kat, but because he kept the secret of his birth and the fact that his mother is still alive from him. He suffered tremendously when she "died" and Sebastian cannot get past this betrayal.
On another note, I'm dying to find out what happens when Sebastian learns Hero has his mother's necklace...
I'd completely forgotten about Hendon's deception regarding Sebastian's mother! And that necklace. Thanks for that reminder.

However, I agree when Hero told him that he does Hendon and injustice. Kat seems to have forgiven him. I wonder if he will be so forgiving of his mother if/when he finds her.
Sebastian seems to be a lot more forgiving of females so I wouldn't be surprised if he quickly forgives his mother - and will probably find some new reason to be angry with Hendon. It'll be interesting to see, for sure.
I agree that he will be more forgiving of his mother especially if she tells him some sob story about his father.
I really liked the development of Sebastian and Hero's relationship in this one. One thing I enjoy is how Hero is so nonchalant about Sebastian putting himself into danger or getting hurt. Maybe that speaks to her confidence that he can take care of himself. That scene where she put alcohol on his wound was really funny. Do people think that Hero's attitude about danger also comes out of her upbringing?
I definitely do, Jasmine! Can you imagine the intrigue she’s been in the midst of because of her father? As she’s got his keen mind and temperament, Hero probably inserted herself whenever she could.
I think her upbringing probably did have a lot to do with her perspective on things Sebastian gets up to. Intrigue surrounds Jarvis and she's intelligent enough to know exactly what that implies.
Jasmine wrote: "One thing I enjoy is how Hero is so nonchalant about Sebastian putting himself into danger or getting hurt. Maybe that speaks to her confidence that he can take care of himself. "Yes, I love this too
Hero trusts Sebastian enough to know that he can take care of himself, but she also worries and takes care of him when he needs it.
Another contrast to Kat who never understood his need to investigate things. Hero joins in rather than trying to convince him to give it up.
I understand Sebastian's anger towards his father. Not only did Hendon lie about the death of his mother, but also Sebastian's paternity. I don't know if I mentioned it here, but my aunt was adopted by my grandparents during or slightly before WWII. She was an infant at the time of adoption. Her sister found her when she was in her fifties. I remember how devastated she was. Everything she believed about who she was came into question. She couldn't talk to my grandparents until they were much older. She never liked the people who were her biological family because they gave her away. It took her years to wrap her head around the lies and the good reasons for the lies.
Today, people are a lot more honest with children when the are adopted. I believe that is so much better for everyone involved.
