SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments I read this book when I was little (so in the early 1980s). The child MC, who I think was drawn as a bear in a bear family, is really naughty and always says no to everything. Somehow, he is magically punished for this - as a result of some kind of curse he can only say no. Now he has to say 'no' when he really wants something to eat or wants to go to bed. I remember him ending up out in the street upset and unable to tell anyone what he needs or accept any kind offers of help as he keeps telling everyone no. I think, having learned his lesson, he is then released from the curse and it ends happily with him back home.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd like to check it out again.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think this is it as it doesn't look like it involves any magical punishment, but I'll try to get a copy to check.

Ayshe | 4721 comments There's also Randolph, the Bear Who said No. From review on amazon:
Little Randolph, who says no all the time to everything, finds himself unable to say anything but no. He becomes lost and is one miserable little bear. He learns his lesson, gets his communication skills back, and becomes a bear that says yes a lot.
