SOLVED. Murder mystery, a boy finds missing girls diary and leg (possibly Australian). [s]

I read this between 2005/2011 and was found in my high school library so I'm assuming it was a young adult fiction book, it may have also been set in or written by an Australian.
I don't remember much about the plot other than it was about a boy who was forced to move to a small town (may have been left there by a parent) and he finds the skeleton leg of a goth girl in a hay shed that hasn't been used since she went missing as well as her hidden diary entries. She was murdered and he may use the diary and other things to figure out who did it.
Its driving me crazy i just cant remember the title and would like to read it again.

No that's not it unfortunately I've been trying to find it but am having no luck. I remember the girl was a bit of an outcast because she dressed in a goth style and the book is told from the boys perspective. I think the book cover might have the bottom half of a young girl wearing tall leather boots (but i read so many books that that cover might not be right :/ )
