Say hello, pretty please?
Hey everybody! I'm Q K, a first time indie author who's going all wide-eyed-farm-boy-seeing-the-city-for-the-first-time on these author communities! This is so cool!I think I've picked the wrong time to introduce myself, though, since my wine experience begins and ends with Franzia.

Welcome, Q K, to our group and to the wonderful world of publishing! There's never a wrong time to introduce yourself. I don't know much about wine either other than drinking it:) *chuckles* And my favorite is White Zinfandel.
*hands out goodie basket* You'll have lots of fun here, I promise:)

Welcome in, QK! I'm pretty new at this community myself, so we can be wide-eyed farm boys together. People are real nice around these parts though...you'll fit in great!
And since wine isn't your thing...
-sets a handle of bourbon on the table-
How bout we really get the party started? :D
-wanders over to the juke box, deposits some money, makes a selection-

Never mind the wine, you had me at New England! However, what happened to my beloved Patriots last night? With regards to making enough money writing and I live just up the road in Nova Scotia Err mm. Lets hatch a plan. Islands that have wineries - I know some. PS: Just followed you on twitter.
I've never tried bourbon.... *slowly slides glass over* I guess it's time to try some. Is it gonna burn going down, or go down smooth?*slowly slides glass back* Maybe I'm not ready. *chuckles*

LOL - quite a bit.
Thanks Michael, I shall return the Twitter favor. And you're a Pats fan!!!! It's insta love. I'm sure my husband won't mind a bit. He's a big Pat's fan too. And yeah, it was a heartbreaking loss. Bourbon is a thing of beauty. Basically I like all alcohol with the exception of gin and beer (I know, that will get me boos)

No boos here. It just means more Tanqueray for me!
I've never loved vodka, personally. And rum loathes me.
I sell spirts too and have a tip. If you like gin & tonic, use fever tree tonic. All tonics in North America are too sweet and destroy the gin taste profile.
Hey; there's a juke box! Awesome. Now this has got things humming (in a good way for the linguistically challenged). :) I like Pernod and lemonade. I grew up in the 80s!
But I'll drink almost anything.
But tonic; bleurgh. Much too bitter.
Welcome Q.
So grand; more fellas!
I'd hand out more gooddies, but illness and alcohol? I'm just gonna pass out right on this sofa ;p
TL, we're going to have to limit you. All that dancing to the juke box and slugging down sweet drinks. Drink plenty of water! I have a hangover cure - you ready for it.
When I was in grad school to become a NP, my friends and I used our new medical knowledge and put it to the test (lots of field research) Here we go:
While drinking: Plenty of water is a must. For every alcoholic drink, consume 1 glass of water. Hangovers stem from dehydration and lack of electrolytes (alcohol is a diuretic, hence the dehydration) so in the am, drink a sports drink like Gatorade. And eat something greasy because your liver needs the fat and calories to mend itself.
There, I have imparted my wisdom.
I guess I can go about my day knowing that I've helped cure the world of hangovers ; )
Happy Wednesday (I won't say humpday again. Oh, wait, I just did)
Happy Whisky Wednesday. Just had two days off red wine and cant wait for 5.00. I was giving my liver a rest for 48 hours, but didn't know to feed it fat. I will do my Yorkshire puddings and roast beef with LARD this weekend. Thanks for the tip.Note TL: I got loaded at a Pernod party in Sheffield in the 80's. Not a pretty sight.

I am a member of five Goodreads groups and this is easily my favourite. Is it the romantic element? I hope we can drive more to this group and increase membership. One question Annie - I think we indie authors need to work together. We will never be a Norah Roberts, if we work separately, often with a full time job or a lack of social media skills necessary to promote books. Do we have a thread where we can help each other? I see some authors in this group that I could suggest tips on marketing. Glad you like the new guys.

*fist bump galore*
And yes, we have Marketing thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
You're also totally welcome to create new threads in that folder for super specific resources but just know that they'll eventually get buried by other stuff.
Hugsss,
Ann
P.S. - Yeah, we're digging the upsurge of T in this place ^_~

Thanks Annie: I can use the marketing thread and mention in here when I have done a post. I thought of new thread entitled - "We are one, but were not the same." However, you are right, it will get buried.

I have left a post and I ask all you brilliant people I have met on this thread to have a read.

So glad you found our lovely group:) Congrats on completing NaNoWriMo!!!! So exciting. I'm still working my way there, but I hit the half way point, so I have faith I'll finish.
*hands out welcome basket of goodies*
Michael wrote: "I sell spirts too and have a tip. If you like gin & tonic, use fever tree tonic. All tonics in North America are too sweet and destroy the gin taste profile."That's good to know! It also makes me feel better about not liking tonic. I've heard that gin and tonics were first mixed to make the tonic drinkable, not the gin, and though I don't know if that's true (and won't check in case it isn't), I really want to believe.
While we're at it, fever tree is just a ludicrously cool name.

Thanks so much Amanda! I'm sure you will get there! I was super excited to be able to finish! This was the first time I tried it! Its actually pretty daunting! But super exciting at the same time!

So awesome on meeting your NaNoWriMo goal already! I'm not doing it but all of you guys who have been doing it have been keeping me super motivated to keep working on my current work in progress each day because I can't wait to get on to my next project!
Thank you! Its funny because ever since I hit that goal I have written hardly anything :/ but I'm working on it!
No idea how you did that! 50K takes me about 6 months. You are probably exhausted. After the last full novel I finished, I took 3 months off writing. I think Dan Brown does this. Since my rest, I'm back writing short stories like a crazy fool.
Lol once I get started I can't stop until about 50,000 then I get stuck for a few days, go back and read what I have written so far and then get back at it! I have so many stories pushing to get out of my head it's hard to stop sometimes! lol I have had to take a break the last couple days and work on networking on my pitiful Facebook page and twitter feeds lol! I should take more breaks though!
Welcome newbies! Sorry we are low on beverages, again, when I stop by I tend to stumble away... Wine and cookies is harsh on my belly but I repeat this mistake, over and over...To my fellow writers, is it horrible that I do not know what nanoneenowri—uh—is?
No I didn't know at first either! lol November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) it's a challenge to write a complete 50,000 word novel during the month of November!
I just realized after only a few years, I had left my profile blank on GoodReads! Anybody that as been talking to a crazy Brit that's lived in USA and Canada for the past 27 years and sells Booze, I do exist! Please have a peek and message me anytime.
Is it wine time yet?
Hello! I'm a newbie author, long-time reading junkie and a momma to three little devils, ahem...angels, I meant angels! I'm super excited to join this group since I'm naturally quite an introvert. It'll be great to meet and chat with link-minded folks without my awkwardness taking over. :) -KB
Helloooo, KB!
*waves like a crazy person*
Welcome to our humble group of awesome!! There's plenty of awkward to go with the awesome, though, so feel free to be yourself ^_~

Hello more newbies (*waves happily*)Michael; please tell me it wasn't Pernod & Black.
It was, wasn't it? That's really an ugly sight!!
Gonna try to pop over your helpful post, but feeling a bit wobbly again (due to illness not alcohol, I promise).
Have a great weekend everyone
(*passes round hot chocolate with cinnamon swirls; it's before midday here in the UK*)

Welcome K.B. I too have three little devilish angels! You're in good hands in this group.Michael, we're a multination group and as a result, it's always wine time!! And diet coke for our lovely princess. I'm drinking mine right now ; )
Its a tad too quiet for this group! I can imagine our American friends are getting ready for Thanks-Giving. Since I lived there for ten years I decided it would also be a life time national holiday for me.So, what to have with Turkey besides the usual Riesling. Grenache from Spain. Light and fruity. Of course, I will also be watching football all day. Cheers.
I sort of love how you just called it Thanks-Giving instead of Thanksgiving. My English friend did the same thing. Yes, tomorrow I am baking a pecan pie before I get down and dirty for the big event on Thursday. Lots of cooking and baking and eating and yes, drinking too. Oh and football, did I mention football? I'm liking the idea of a Riesling my friend. I may have to send the hubby back out to the liquor store (he'll kill me). and Michael - our pats rocked it dude!

Last Christmas I bought a crate of best wines (as chisen by a supermarket wine expert committee). Some were tres gluggable but alas I was having such fun drinking them I forgot to note which they were.
Oh well; another crate this year it is! ;-)
