Cuong I read the summary of the next book in the series and it seems like the protagonist changes. Can someone confirm this?

Krys Yes. The protagonist changes. Cazaril is only mentioned.

Brenda Clough It is about Iselle's family, however.

Victoria Gaile The protagonist/viewpoint character does change, but the story arc picks up three years later.

I just reread these two books, and I'm hard pressed to decide which is my favorite. Cazaril is a fascinating and witty character, but Ista in this book is also fascinating and compelling.

I would say Paladin of Souls is a very strong complement to The Curse of Chalion in terms of the main character -- by which I mean the themes and characterizations are very similar while the details are different -- while being a slightly distant sequel in terms of plot.

The third book (The Hallowed Hunt) is much more different from these two than they are from each other. Still good, but there's no plot connection at all.

Brenda Clough The logic of the universe seems to indicate that there should be 5 books in all. I keep on hoping that Bujold will see it that way!

Wendy yes, I've heard the idea was to write a book from each god's perspective so there should be 5. I'm really hoping for another 2 from this world

Brenda Clough Alas and alack, her health is not of the best, and this tends to affect book production. We must all pray to the five gods that she stays healthy and happy for another century or so.

David Tate There is a fourth book of sorts, the novella "Penric's Demon", set later in time than The Hallowed Hunt, but earlier than The Curse of Chalion. I bought it as an e-book, and thought it was quite good. It's pretty clear, though, that the "one book per god" isn't going to happen -- this one was also mostly centered on the Bastard's demons.
