Ella winced, hiding her wrist. She nonchalantly went over to him, looking at his counter. Yup, all zeroes. "Who's the lucky person?" She asked him innocently, making sure her timer was out of view.

"It's been like that for a while. Hence why i attempted to cut it out." He lied easily, looking at the wounds that surrounded the timer.
"Huh, okay," she said, biting her lip. Either he was lying, or telling the truth and Ella's timer went wrong. "Who are they thigh?" She asked, wanting to see if he was lying.
"I dunno. Never bothered paying any attention to it except when trying to get it out of my wrist." He mumbled.
"Alright, that's cool," she said, sighing. Well, he was probably telling the truth, and she had a messed up timer. She frowned.
Ella glanced at her timer too. "Can we get mine out too?" She asked him, knowing that if her timer was broken, there was no use having it anyways.
"Hm, there has to be a way," she said, shrugging. Ella shoved her hands in her pockets, looking at him.
"Fine, whatever," she said. "I'm going, follow if you want," she said simply, before starting to walk to her campsite.
She heard him, but she didn't say anything, clenching her jaw. When she was younger, and her family had all died, she clung to the hope of the timer, and it ended up not working.
Eli sighed softly. He knew he'd lied to her. His timer had been working but it hadn't been at zero the last time he checked it. And she was the only person he'd met since.
Ella kept walking, staring at the timer. "Dammit, I don't have anything to eat," she said softly, stopping. Shrugging, she kept walking, not wanting to find food.
"Cool, let's go then," she said, running back and taking his arm. She dropped it immediately, knowing he didn't like to be touched.
"Hey, I want some food, then you can leave." She said to him, pouting. "And don't be rude," she said.
"I'm the one being rude? You're the one who's leaving and comes running back a minute later and you've done that twice now." He replied.
"Fair enough." She said, shrugging, feigning nonchalance, but the comment really stung. She bit her lip, starting to walk. She just really wanted to eat.
Ella glanced at him. "I've made up my mind, come on. Unless you're gonna be mean again," she said, rolling her eyes.
"Fine, you're not being mean, I'm just being a bitch. Anyways, I'm mad about my timer," she said softly. "Now can we go?"
"Nevermind, okay? Can we just go?" She asked, exasperated. She didn't want to spill her life story in front of this near stranger.
Eli rolled his eyes. He'd never agreed to go with her and yet she was trying to just force him along.
"Fine, if I tell you, will you please come? I really do want to eat, and hunting right now will not end well," she said softly. She knew she was being pathetic, but she hadn't talked to someone in years.
Eli shrugged. "I'm being rude. Says the girl who I just met and who is trying to force me to follow her."
Ella opened her mouth to say something and then closed it. "Fine, if that's actually true. Sorry," she said, shrugging, but not moving.
"What? I'm sorry, but I am pretty stupid, you're gonna have to spell it out for me," she said, kind of mad now.
"You're a jerk. You should get this thing called a heart and start actually having some compassion." She said, scowling at him.
Ella was still mad, but his words made her stop. "Wait, what? I'm sorry, that was rude," she said, sighing.
