Parrish | 2 comments I read the first book or two in this series/trilogy around 2008-2010 ish. The final books came out after I stopped reading them, so that is about when they would have actively been coming out.

The protagonist was a boy named October (or Wednesday or something in that vein). He was one of several disturbed teens who were raised in a strange world which was later revealed to be virtual reality. Heavy dystopian elements.

The cover was either a monarch butterfly something or a white boy with some gothic elements and some monarch butterflies. (I think they changed covers as the books came out)

Parrish, can you describe the "strange" virtual reality world the teens are raised in (as it initially appears in the story)? Do they have "parents" or guardians?

Tell us more about the teens - e.g., how are they "disturbed"?

Is romance a strong theme?

Mir | 805 comments One edition of Nick Sagan's Idlewild has a butterfly, although I don't recall how that related to the plot.

8 or 9 teens are at a school with a teacher called Maestro, which turns out to be virtual because in fact (view spoiler)
