Mystery series set in small town in New York in 1920's to 50's

This was a short series about a brother and sister who inherit a house from an unknown relative. They have to live in the house without staying away overnight for several years before they have the right to it. The attorney and his wife live with them to confirm they are falling into the will's requirements. They start solving mysteries in and around the small town the house is in. I think I read them in 80's or 90's but not sure.
