The female protagonist is held in a palace during the beginning of the first book, but she is eventually released and allowed to travel. She does not know much about her parents or her past. I think the book spoke a lot about her trying to discover who her father really was.
She eventually comes to another kingdom/city where they have futuristic technology with mechanical dolls. She also comes across a group of bandits/pirate-esque people. She eventually falls in love with the leader of the gang, and they decide to marry, but she is kidnapped and held against her will without being able to tell her fiance.
The place she is held is beautiful. It isn't a city and she is one of the only people there, but it has mechanical dolls similar to the previous city. I think one guy there, maybe her guide or guard, wants her to stay with him. She contemplates just accepting him as her new lover, but she eventually leaves to find her fiance.
When she escapes, she finds the gang again, only to discover her fiance was written a fake letter telling him that she didn't want to be with him. The other bandits inform her that he left the gang after he read the letter. She then goes looking for him again.
She finds her fiance again, and follows him everywhere trying to convince him that she loves him and that the note was a lie, but after awhile he sits and never responds to her. She then discovers that he is a doll whose battery has died, not her real fiance, and that she was being lured into some sort of trap.
This is the most I remember, apart from some plot that has her being chased by the different cities for an unknown reason. Maybe vague memories of the protagonist with a pet and diary. I do not know which plot happened in which part/book, but it should be in chronological order for the most part. I will add more if I remember
