Abnegation:
The faction of the selfless people, sometimes known as Stiffs. Their color is GREY and they do a plethora of community service. Their representative council are in charge of the factions due to their commitment to selflessness. This faction does not like to attract attention to themselves so they wear loose fitting clothing and discourage, even small acts of, selfish behavior.
Amity:
The faction of the peaceful. Their colors are RED and YELLOW and are usually viewed as artists, although they provide Chicago understanding counselors and dedicated caretakers. They are free, kind, and loving and usually have a laid back go with the flow kind of attitude. This faction is seen playing clapping games or singing songs. Their goal is to be happy.
Candor:
The faction of the honest. Their colors are BLACK and WHITE and they can't tell one lie. This faction has provided Chicago with trustworthy law leaders. They are very honest and open and seems to blurt whatever is on their mind. They are seen making wild gestures with their hands and look as if they're debating.
Dauntless:
The faction of the brave and fearless. Their color is BLACK and they are indestructible and daring. This faction provides the factions with the best protection. They are usually seen sporting dark makeup, piercings, tattoos, and wild hairstyles and colors. They are seen jumping on and off running trains.
Erudite:
The faction of the intelligent. Their color is BLUE and they are curious and smart. This faction provides Chicago with librarians, doctors, teachers, and scientists. They all wear glasses and wear their color to stimulate the mind. They do speeches and eloquence is for them.
Factionless:
The group (not Faction, hence the name Factionless) where initiates have failed to complete their initiation. They wear a mix of the different factions colors and live in poverty. It is known that there is a higher amount of Divergent here. The factionless do work that no one else does (janitors, garbage collectors, etc.).
Divergent:
Not a faction. Most factions expect their initiates to act a certain way. This is a special type of person who has a mix of the different factions when they take their aptitude test. They end up having multiple faction choices to choose from. Divergence is considered dangerous and rare.
