Hey all - I know I'm a tad early but I finished up my last audio - total downer and needed to start something on my way home from work today. Only a half an hour in. So far an interesting start. Had to put to a slower rate so I could understand the narrator better. Hoping I can go back to my 'regular' speed when I get used to her. I wasn't aware this was narrated with (I think) an irish accent...kind of sounds British but it's set in Ireland - so we'll go with Irish, lol

I usually only listen on my way to and from work so I'll quickly be behind you guys :)

Haha this made me chuckle I'm English with Scottish inlaws and Irish family, sometimes I have to ask them to speak slower so I can get what they are saying!

I am a tad confused as right now it's about Jay and Matilda. I don't think Matilda is a guy. This is an m-m, right? LOL.

I just started, made it to chapter 2, but I'm guessing that (view spoiler)[Matilda is probably the neighbor Jay was so fond of and that the same guys who burned his house down later attacked Matilda's family. (hide spoiler)]

Those same men killed Matilda's mom?

(view spoiler)[ I think he was/is 'older' than her when by maybe five years... I'm assuming she just doesn't realize it's him.....also it sounds like the guys that burned his house down killed her mom but somehow they haven't really talked about the bad parts of their childhood.

I definitely like the storytelling in this one vs Under Locke (gag) but I've still got mixed feelings overall as it is kind of slow at times - other times pretty good (hide spoiler)]

A) He is older. He is 27 where Matilda is 23. Back when he was 12, she would have been 8. And
B) He didn't play an important role in her childhood as she did in his. Because his own home life wasn't good, the time he spent with her family was cherished. To her, he may have just been the boy next door.
However, even after recognizing him for his fame, she thinks, "What is it about this man? He’s incredibly attractive, yes, but there’s something else, and for the life of me I can’t figure it out," so it seems like perhaps she does recognize him, but can't exactly place him. (hide spoiler)]
