I think you mean what is his involvement here...it appears that he is in some kind of partnership with S. They are moving A Lot of money that is most likely earmarked for a second Jacabite rebellion movement.

His warning was regret will be had if he meddle in matters he does not understand.

There is definitely more going in this complicated issue than John knows about.
