I know this is incredibly late. But, I started the book and I'm on chapter-46. The writing is incredibly confusing. For a minute there, I thought that Cady's dad (view spoiler)[ really shot her. And then, I get to know that it was all a hallucination. And maybe, seeing Carrie strolling at night was a hallucination too? (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure I like Cady. I mean, she cried when she got to know that (view spoiler)[ Gat had a girlfriend, while she had admitted to have kissed a guy or three over the summer herself. I understand it's jealousy. But, isn't it a bit dramatic to cry over this?

And then, she complained a little bit about how Gat didn't try to contact her for two years. Afterwards, she was all normal with him. Seriously?! (hide spoiler)]

And, the story's really slow. The last few chapters have been wasted on writing what rich kids do in their summer Residences. Who wants to know that?

Overall, I'm halfway up and I still haven't figured out if I like the book or not. But, one thing's clear I won't love it. I think this will be a 3 star one for me. Or maybe, if it becomes better I might add a 0.5 and vice versa.

Just started. Couple of chapters in. Curious family set-up. Writing style feels deliberately evasive.

Up to chapter 16. Cadence's voice is brusque/no nonsense. Not a lot has happened.

The sense of superiority in these characters, even though they seem more than a little odd, is quite irritating.

Not as terrible as some of the reviews imply, but it left me frustrated. Cadence is one of those characters who always seems to be hiding something.

Finished - review on my page. While I love King Lear, the parallels with it were not enough to make me love this. It was well-written but I found the characters quite irritating.

The 3 cousins don't leave the house, the aunt didn't answer when Cady asked how Johnny was, they lie about going places, the only person around the adults and littles is Cady.. Like I said before I would loved more this book if Cadence were a boy that way it would be more interesting, since the second and third part I was bored to death and Cadence piss me off in a few chapters I started to have a theory that she was imagining all or all people in the island was dead and somehow that theory became true; she was imagining Mirren, Jhonny and Gat to say goodbye and they were dead but not all people just the liars.

I thought she was going to kill herself but I kinda like that she didn't do it and it was more about she growing up and deal with the dead of all them, still I can't even know who those parents must feel and more that the only survivor is Cadence.

I liked this book but it wasn't a wow or soo goood book it was normal. (hide spoiler)]
