SOLVED. Japanese style story, assassin, ultra hearing, climbs walls [s]

Read this as a kid (over 10 years ago).
Set in japanese style world with an assassin whp starts from lowly setting and ascends within culture. Ultra hearing can place people in other rooms. Im sure he runs up a wall in one scene and encounters someone suspended from the top of the wall in a cage.

Horribly brief description... good luck solving it guys.
