One friend buries another with a breathing tube so that he can survive all night. I can't remember when I read this, between 1986 - 2000? Possibly one of Stephen King's shorts?

SPOILER: in the early morning before his friend can dig him up an old lady visits and notices the recent burial. She decides to leave some flowers in the odd grave marker.
