Kiri Fiona (kirifiona) | 175 comments Hi all - hoping someone can point me in the right direction...

The cover on this book is poor quality

...and a member has provided this scan of his own copy http://i.imgur.com/b7PlTzs.jpg

I know we are not to delete or replace covers - does this apply even if we're just replacing a cover with a higher quality version of itself?

Thanks in advance :) :)

Kiri Fiona (kirifiona) | 175 comments Sorry, I managed to find my answer using the search discussion function. So I've confirmed that I can replace it if it is the same cover but better quality, left a librarian note... but what if they are not exactly the same? Is this where you would create an alternate-cover edition as per this? For reference, the request I am working on is here and I've left the cover that isn't exactly the same - untouched.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Abcdarian | 22266 comments Yes, that's alternate cover edition territory.

lethe | 14581 comments I've looked at both covers side by side and I don't see a difference (apart from quality). Now I want to know what the difference is :)

Abcdarian | 22266 comments Took me awhile too; it's not the first one Kiri is talking about (in the end) but the one left here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Sandra | 26639 comments I can't see the difference either. What is it? LOL

message 7: by Abcdarian (new)

Abcdarian | 22266 comments It's not the editions in the first post; they are exactly the same because she figured it out & added the better cover. It's these: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... / http://i.imgur.com/Oupttgw.jpg

Sandra | 26639 comments Well that makes more sense. Thanks Abcdarian :)

Kiri Fiona (kirifiona) | 175 comments Yep, what Abcdarian said :) Sorry - my explanation was terrible, and now I'm wasting everyone's time making you play Spot the Difference!

Kiri Fiona (kirifiona) | 175 comments And thanks a bunch Abcdarian - I'm reading up on alt-cover editions now.

Please leave a change comment (not a librarian note) when uploading the new cover, that will show in the librarian changelog attached to the cover change. The change comment is at the bottom of the edit page.

See for an example: https://www.goodreads.com/book/edits/...

Ah, ok - thanks, Arenda! Should I go back and remove my librarian notes and put in change comments now, or am I too late?

Change comments can only be left when making the actual change, so that is not possible.
I wouldn't bother removing the librarian notes.
