Diana | 3 comments I'm really struggling to remember too much about these books because I read the second book in the trilogy before realizing it was a trilogy years ago. It's an adult fantasy novel that's set in a magical medieval kind of world. One of the twins is a wizard and the other is a slave. The wizard needs his brother for his blood for some reason and the brother who somehow became a slave also has magical powers but doesn't know how to use them. The wizard uses his magic to connect mentally with his other brother, I think, but I'm fuzzy on the details of why.

I can't remember how old I was when I read it but I think it was published post 2000s because I picked it up off of the new shelf in the library. I think it's a female author.

Julie | 10 comments Could it be Time of the Twins, by Margaret Weiss and Tracey Hickman set in the Dragonlance world?

Time of the Twins by Margaret Weis - Julie's suggestion

Diana | 3 comments Twins was not explicitly a part of the title as far as I remember.

Diana, is this fantasy for young adults/teens or older adults?

Are there dragons in the story? Any romance?

Adele | 1431 comments Sarah Monette's Doctrine of Labyrinths series (there are now four books but maybe when you read this there were only three) is about a wizard and his brother and the wizard puts some kind of magical bond on his brother that lets them connect mentally but could also be used to control him, and there is a blood tie. Also the wizard brother used to be enslaved to an evil wizard and the other brother was basically a slave of a criminal who trained him to be a thief and assassin. The brothers aren't twins though, but I think they look alike. The books in the series are:

Book 1: Mélusine (Doctrine of Labyrinths, #1) by Sarah Monette

Book 2 (the one you might have read): The Virtu (Doctrine of Labyrinths, #2) by Sarah Monette

Book 3: The Mirador (Doctrine of Labyrinths, #3) by Sarah Monette

Book 4 (published in 2009): Corambis (Doctrine of Labyrinths, #4) by Sarah Monette
