Circus of the Darned book 2 in the Fran and Ben Dark Ones YA series. Got Fangs? is the first book in the series. The last book in the series was published as an adult read because the author (Katie Maxwell) changed publishers and wasn't allowed to continue the series as a YA book. In the Company of Vampires is the last story in the series. (Er, can you tell that I've read it before?)

There is also a good deal of humour in the series, but Katie adds that to most of her books.
