Question Mark
Read: 8/3
Rating: 4,5 stars
How it fits: #2 in series
Review:
As many before me I very much disliked Mark in Private Eye, and had a hard time believing that I would end up liking him and his story. I’m glad to say I was completely and utterly wrong. I was hooked by this book from the first page. The emotions in this book ring true and the chemistry between Mark and Zane is sizzling. It’s real – or well as real as a romance between a “normal” person and a superstar can be ;)
So if you’re like me and hesitate to pick the book up because of your initial feelings towards Mark, throw them out the window and pick up this book, it’s totally worth it and you won’t be disappointed!

Book: The Rapids by Carla Neggers
Read: 08/08/16

Rate- 4 stars
I like Carla Neggers writing it flows so nicely. This book had a good plot to it but I found there were a lot of secondary characters that was a little frustrating to keep track of. None the less the book caught my attention, the adventure was edge of you seat exciting, and the little bit of romance was sweet. There are 3 more books to finish this series and I will continue, I would recommend this series to romance/suspense fans.

Lost Won by S.E. Culpepper

Review:
I really liked Christians story, you can really follow how he matures and develops from Question Mark and then in this book. He has really come a long way from the miserable person he once was to the caring and considerate man he is now. Kevin and Christian fit very well together, both hiding who they are not really knowing how to break out. All in all a sweet continuation to the series.

I am fairly new to TCF. Can someone please give me a quick rundown of book rules? ie do we go by book start date or book completion date? what is the minimum page count? is it different for YA than it is for adult? Just want to make sure what I read can actually count.
So from what I gather, I need to read a 3rd or 5th in series by the 11th?

It would be the date you finished reading the book that matters the most. You can't start a book and count it for a roll, before we roll. So you can't start a book on the 10th and have it count for the roll on the 11th. No different between YA and adult. I believe the minimum is 150 pages, but I can double check that.

Mandiann wrote: "Oh wow. Okay. Hopefully one I completed on August 4th will be able to be counted. Otherwise will try to cram something in tomorrow."
So...Mandiann, did you read the rules? (*side eye)
Here to address some of your questions.
WE won't force you to read a new book this week if your book doesn't fit. Post it and your teammates can tell you if it works
See Katherine's Post 58 to see how to post your selection for the week.
I am glad you are here!

How does TCF feel about sequential art books? IE - Dark Times
Which date do we go by, start or completion? Can I count a book if I started reading it before the roll but finished after the roll was announced or do I need to start after the roll?
Sorry to be a pain. I swear, no more questions for at least a day after this.
I am sure I can find something short to finish by tomorrow evening.

You cannot count a book that you started reading before the roll but finished after, it needs to be started and finished after the roll.
No worries about the questions! We can help you!

Think i will try to get through the third evil by r.l. stine. it is the only short book i have on hand that will fit. should be do-able.

Ok! No worries if you don't though! :)

That's ok! I know how it can be - sometimes it's overwhelming to start in the middle of a challenge and try to figure out everything all at once.

Book: Something Deadly This Way Comes by Kim Harrison
Pages: 245
Read: 8.7.16
Rating: ★★★
Review:
This is the last book in the trilogy. Which is probably a good thing. I really love Kim Harrison's writing, it's just good that she didn't go farther with the YA series.
As far as the plot goes it was a little more exciting than the last book. Madison and gang need to help a young girl named Tammy change her soul to prevent being reaped/killed. Tammy's little brother hangs in the balance too. Madison discovers some new abilities.
The series was wrapped up cleanly. There aren't any loose ends. It does feel like maybe Harrison planned to go further with the series, but with the books not being as successful as her UF series it was scrapped.

I find R. L. Stines books quite predictable and not at all scary. They are so ridiculous, they make me wonder why so many people remember them fondly.
The sad part is, even though it was predictable and not a very enjoyable read, I will probably read book two because one day soon I will find myself needing another quick, low reading level book that doesn't require my undivided attention.

Book Unexpected Fate by Harper Sloan

Review:
At the beginning of book I had doubts that I will love this book, but it was proven wrong. I loved the plots and characters.
Danielle Reid has loved boy Cohen Cage since she was small. But unfortunatelly Cohen didnt return her feelings since he was five years older and a soldier. Also it didnt help that her father was overprotective of her and chased away all boys. All but one - Cohen Cage. He though that it will hurt more if he returned her feelings. But Danny didnt give up and it all changed one night when they let themselves be together.
I didnt like beginning since Danielle was the one in charge of theirs relationship. She was the first one to confess that she had feelings for Cohen. But those emotions and love made this book amazing. I even cried a few times because they love was hearbroking especially when Cohen was deployed and they couldnt be together.

Book: Die for You by Lisa Unger
Read: 08/13/16
No of Pages: 480
Rate- 3 stars
I like Lisa Unger, but this one for me, certainly was not her best. I was thinking 2 stars but gave it 3 stars because the plot of the book was very interesting, really good. The reason I had a hard time with it...I disliked the characters, everyone of them raked on my nerves. 480 pgs of annoying characters. It was hard. I really would not recommend this one.

Review:
Being warned that this book was a dark romance, I went into it with a bit of trepidation, expecting to yell/cry and just being in anguish for whatever the book would make me go through. After reading the book I would say it fit more in the hurt-comfort category as the main feeling I got from reading it was hope and second chances.
It was a well thought out plot with great characters, though the secondary characters could do with a bit more development and the book in general for some a couple of more editing sessions as some of the writing really threw me out of the book.
All in all a solid start for a new series and it will be interesting to know where the next book lead us.

Review
For this week I have read standalone book. This book is teacher/student relationship type.
Thea Cunning spends amazing week with Levi Black after they met at the bar. She went there in order to forget about her's problems.
Levi Black is lawyer and professor. He is divorced man. After he gets to know thea he suggest that he hepls to get her father out of prison.
This book was written in past present format. Past is their week spent together and present when they reunites in university. I liked this book.

Book: The Most Evil Pirates in History
Read: 8/15
No of Pages: 192
Rate- 2 stars
Review:
It wasn't really written in a way that was interesting or engaging and the author seemed to spend much of her book quoting other books on pirates so it didn't really seem to be very unique or worthwhile to read. But I guess I did learn new information I hadn't known before but part of me doubts how well researched the book was so I am skeptical and not in a hurry to take everything presented as fact.

Roll 5: 40 - 4th in a series
Book: Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine
Pages: 215
Read: 8.18.16
Rating: ★★★
Review:
The ending of the last book really led me to believe that this one was going to be much more exciting. While there are some small moments of intense action, there wasn't anything that really surprised me.
Plain and clear, Mr. Bishop is the bad guy. But no one really understands why except for his unexpected arrival in Morganville and his unknown/misunderstood past with Amelie.
This one really left a lot to be desired as far as plot goes. There was some character development. Claire, even though she's 16, acts like more of an adult than her house mates who are adults. But she does have her moments where her age gets the best of her and she does something that is completely expected of someone who hasn't seen enough of the world.
I really don't know where Caine is taking this, and I'm a little apprehensive to go on. But I do own all the books so I'd like to read them and cross them off my TBR. Series sometimes have their lulls so I'm hoping that's all this is.

Okay the plot of the story and the execution of it was good, and there was a few funny parts. The writing style flowed, a little slow in some places. But the big issue, the characters annoyed me. I read her novel BEAST, and it was the same for me, just okay. Truly I don't think I would read another book by this author, there are too many good books out there and not enough time.

Review
I read this book because it piqued my interest. I like books with deep story, but I dont know if I really liked this book so I gave it 4 stars.
Elizabeth is broken girl who was raped by her ex-boyfriend. As consequences of this act she doesnt date anymore because she is afraid of giving her heart again. But sometimes we cant command our hearts.
Declan is bad boy. He too was heartbroken by his ex when he saw her cheating. He is fighter and his dream is to open up gym.
When they met there is instant attraction. Although Elizabeth keeps her distance from Declan, she cant fight the attraction. Sometimes rules are made to be broken.

Sorry, I took a while to decide what to read. I am 100 pages into Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. Hope to finished today but if not, tomorrow for sure.

Review:
I cant describe my feelings in one word. You just have to read to feel what I felt while reading it. This book was just wow...
Doe is a girl who lost her memory and becomes homeless. She doesnt have food, she doesnt have shelter. And the only thing what could keep her alive is to do dirty works for bikers. There she mets notoriuos Brantley King.
Brantley King doesnt take sh*t from anyone. He and his best friend Preppy starts illegal business. Then one night there was party in bakers house. And when Doe showes up at the party changes his life forever.
In this book there was a lot of blood, violence, but also there is love and understanding. This was one hell of the ride. It was long time since I connected with characters like I did in this book.
