The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Finished 8/31/16
5 Stars
Alternate Best Books Ever List
Review:
I did a relisten of this one and I loved it just as much as the first time. I fell in love with Katniss all over again. She was so fierce and strong willed. I really love this series and may have to relisten to the whole series. The concept of this book is amazing and I have yet to see another book that did it so well.

Elle Week 9
Spot 63
The Target (Will Robie, #3) by David Baldacci
Finished 9/15/16
Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
So, this is the 3rd book in the Will Robie series and it is absolutely the BEST one. Loved, loved, loved the action and plot and depth in this one. Jessica Reel teams up with Robie as a result of the last mission that forced them together. There is a lot going on but Baldacci does an expert job intertwining the main story and the sub-story of North Korean Chung-Cha and Min. The present-day concentration/labor camps are so deplorable but learning what some cultures due under the name of "honor" is both incredible and frightening. I really hope he continues this series. I've read about 7 of his books and he is such an amazing and versatile story-teller.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Alright, I'm currently reading Empire of Storms, and I know that I might need to put it on hold to read a book for this. I hope that I have one easy to read that'll count! Because I can't count EoS because I've already started (6%). Perhaps I should have waited... Oh well haha.

Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini
On The Best Ever List
Rating: 5 Stars

Review:
I really enjoyed this book! It really had a Lord of the Rings feel to it but it was nice because it was a bit easier of a read. I also really liked the story and the sense of adventure and danger as well as how Eragon develops throughout the book. I definitely want to read the rest of the series since I enjoy this genre of books (I can never get enough of dragons...), and I would reccomend it to anyone who likes Lord of the Rings but is younger or wants an easier, shorter read.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Ok do we want to wait on Steph or use our Free pass?

message 258: by Elle (new)

Elle Did you message her? Hate to use the pass if she's going to post in after work or something. :). I don't know. Up to you. Let me know

message 259: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I don't know but we are constantly behind on our books because people are always late. I like having more time to read my books even though I've never been late

message 260: by Elle (new)

Elle Ok- I hope all is well with Steph. Since we haven't heard anything, let's use the free pass. Shy, let me know when you are ready for me to roll.

Use your pass. This is going to be the second to last week of play. Team 12 is on spot 92. They just need to go over 100

message 262: by Elle (new)

Elle Sounds good! I'm going to roll...

message 263: by Elle (new)

Elle We rolled a 10. So this puts us on 73. 7th in a series, 3rd in a series, 73rd in a series or alternate: suspense thriller

message 264: by Elle (last edited Sep 17, 2016 08:37AM) (new)

Elle I'm going with The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern , page 22 of suspense thriller

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Ok I will get us linked up and our spot posted.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments I'm going with Winterblaze (Darkest London, #3) by Kristen Callihan for 3rd in series.

message 267: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Oh good! Yay we got a 10. I was hoping for that :D

Oh no we're almost at the end? Man that's a bummer :/ Does all play stop when someone wins? I hate how it's completely luck. I'd rather everyone get really little numbers, or only have 1 dice, so the challenge lasts longer. I really enjoy this challenge.

I'll read Yellow Brick War (Dorothy Must Die, #3) by Danielle Paige for 3rd in series.

message 268: by Brenna (new)

Brenna (cinderheart218) | 82 comments I'm going to read Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3) by Beth Revis for 3rd in series

message 275: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I'm still around 60% through. I'm not feeling too well lately so I haven't been reading because I don't want it to make me feel worse. I need to get it finished tomorrow/Friday though otherwise we'll be overtime and I don't want to be responsible for that.

Elle Week 10
Spot 73
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
This book is very unique. Celia and Marco are illusionists (with a touch of magic). They are brought up separately with the same purpose- to battle one another-leaving only one victor. The "fathers" of the two illusionists engage in this contest generation after generation. Celia and Marco, however, have more in store for them than they realize. I didn't really see this book as a "thriller". It was suspenseful but in a different way. The author does a brilliant job creating this circus full of vivid colors. I was so engrossed in the different "rooms" of the circus and simply fell in love with the imagery. For her first novel, it is very impressive. I hope she does more really soon.

Winterblaze (Darkest London, #3) by Kristen Callihan
3 Stars

Review:
I'm normally not a romance reader but this series has the right mix of supernatural elements that it makes it enjoyable. We got to see Poppy and Winston and got to see things through both their eyes and I liked it. It made me like them more as a couple. I really enjoyed this one more than I thought I would.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments How are we looking for this week?

Shades of Earth (Across the Universe, #3) by Beth Revis
3rd in series
Rating: 4.5 Stars

Review:
Overall, I felt like this was a really good ending to the trilogy and I felt like the author did a good job of introducing a new world while adding freshness to the series. (view spoiler)

message 282: by Elle (new)

Elle Well team, we have less than 2 hours to go before we have to forfeit. :( It looks like this is the last roll since there is a team over 100 right now. Of course, to win, all reviews have to be in so, it would still be cool if we can roll and finish out the game. However, if the other 2 posts are not made in time, then best wishes and happy reading to you all.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments I sent Steph a message and Maddison account is pruvate so I couldn't send her one. I don't know what else to do at this point.

message 284: by Elle (new)

Elle Yeah- wish we could have completed the game. Oh well...

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments I'm so sorry guys!!!! I went away for the weekend and really wasn't feeling well so I couldn't read or get on the computer. But I did finish :/

Was I the only one holding up the team?

Yellow Brick War (Dorothy Must Die, #3) by Danielle Paige
Task: 3rd in series
How it fits: 3rd in series
Rating: 3 stars

Review: This was an average book. Thought I was going to really enjoy it like the first two, but this was just meh. Nothing spectacular happened. The whole (view spoiler) thing was totally ridiculous. No need for a third book really. The only real thing that happened was (view spoiler) Nothing else was certain. (view spoiler) I did like how they brought (view spoiler) I feel like this one can't be the last one though. It doesn't make sense. It hasn't been resolved.
