Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer
2nd in series
Rating: 5 Stars

Review:
This was a really good book! It had the same mystery and intense sections that the first book had and continued the story very well. I liked the addition of new characters and the dynamics between them in their relationships and how the 2 stories become connected in the end. I cant wait to read the next one!

I usually dont read these type of books but im really glad that i gave it a shot. The fact that these kids are so young in this book and go through such difficult mental struggles and outward struggles in and out of school is mind-boggling. I couldnt imagine what its like to go through that but the book portrayed it in such a way that im more understanding now. Such a good read and i think every high school student should read a book like this to truley understand what they themselves or their peers are going through. Definitely recommend this

So I'll be going off alternatives for a while I think. But I'm also not sure what time I'll have to read because I've got 2 tests on top of typical workload :/

The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass
Task: Read a book 3rd in series
How it fits: 3rd in series
Date read: 18/8/16
Rating: 5 stars

Review: This one was a rather emotional ride, I'll say that. First of all (view spoiler) Secondly, I thought that (view spoiler) That must've been so awkward for America when (view spoiler) But legit, the ending was perfect. I mean, exactly the way to describe (view spoiler) And I loved Maxon's (view spoiler) They were seriously adorable. This book was seriously chock-full of stuffs! Can't wait for the next one, even though people say it's bad.

Elle Week 5
Spot 36
*Changed book selection to Audiobook option*
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Audiobook)
Finished 8/18/16
Rating: ★★★★

Review:
I am really glad I finally "read" this book. I know many people had to read it in high school but we had different requirements. I was really impressed at this very short, intriguing book. I didn't need a ton of character development in order to get a sense of the personalities and contributions of each character. Of course there were questions about some of the vague pieces like the war and Clarisse, etc. He really left a lot of room for the reader to use their own imagination in shaping the epilogue of the story. Normally, that would annoy me but Bradbury constructed well enough to allow some creative thinking. There is so much discussion on this book as well. Crazy how a book so short can have such an impact still today.

I personally loved Tina Fey before i even picked this book up. As her personality reflects, the book was very funny and genuine. I didnt know a lot of the things in there and it was interesting to read her journey to fame through her own eyes. If you like her, youll love the book...and even if you dont its still a good read.

This book was really good! I feel like it really added on to the series by giving more of the characters some development especially Cress (view spoiler). I cant wait to see what happens in the next book (view spoiler) although I really dont want to see the story come to an end.

Elle Week 6
Spot 44
Never Forgotten (Mary O’Reilly Paranormal Mystery #3) by Terri Reid (Mary O'Reilly #3)- Alternate Option
Finished 8/25/16
Rating: ★★★

Review:
This is the 3rd book in the Mary O'Reilly paranormal mysteries. I just love these stories. They are fairly short and straight-forward but they are so entertaining. I love all the characters and the plot in each story is creepy and engaging. In this installment, several police officers seem to be dying at random over a span of a few years. No one can figure it out. It hits home and Bradley's life is threatened. Mary has to deal with the mystery behind the killings in time to save Bradley's life while also uncovering another disturbing mystery. What I also like about Reid's writing is that she even makes the ghosts in the story interesting. The new ghost Mike is hilarious in this book and I think he is going to stick around for at least the next book. Or at least I hope so. These are simply my guilty pleasure when I need something a bit short, creepy and fun to read.

After reading the other books in the series I was so excited to know Jilo was getting her own book. I loved learning about her life and more about her family. When you factor in and get to learn how she became so powerful I loved her even more. She was always my favorite character and this book made me love her even more.

Wildfire (Code Red, #2) by Chris Ryan
How it fits: Sequel in series
Rating: 4 stars

Review: Yet another awesome book :D Just as good as the first one. I can't believe I haven't heard of this series before now haha. Yet again, spot on with the different POVs and takes on the same event. One thing that I didn't like as much is the fact that the whole series of Code Red books are all from Ben's perspective. Because the book started off from someone else's, I thought maybe they would all be from different characters, but they're not. It's kind of unlikely that someone would be in that many different highly dangerous situations, but I guess it is just a book :p I like the action and the twists and just all of it :D Such quick reads.

Like the first book i really enjoyed this. Every new character that was introduced was just as interesting aa i could have expected. The beginning was a bit boring compared to what i would have liked but overall a good read

message 193: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments How many more do we need before we roll again? Because I'm just about to start a new book that'll take me a little while and I won't be able to count it for the next week :/ And I'm really pushed for time so I'll need one of the remaining 3 to count :/

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments We just need Brenna.

message 195: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Alright. Well chances are I won't start for a while, so I just really need to hope we roll before I start, and that we roll an 8 (to spot 52) or get another alternate like this week. Because I'm reading a second in series.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 847 comments Its up the group we can either wait on her or use our free pass but once we do we won't have it if needed for the rest of the game .

message 197: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Anyone have any idea how far through she is? I think we should use it now because the rest of the group is really good at getting reviews in on time, and she said that she'd start reading littler books to get them done faster. So I think we could use it now.

I absolutely loved this book! I felt like it was a great end to the series and I loved all the scenes in it (view spoiler) I also really liked Winter's character and the idea that there is at least 1 Lunar that doesnt only rely on her glamor. Im sad this is the end of the series because I really wish I could read more about these amazing characters!
