Hi, all! I can't join you guys for this flash read unfortunately (reading schedule is all booked up for the month), but I'm looking forward to following your discussion.
Spam deletedI started the first two chapters last night... and need a head slap, because
1) Western. The voice starts out like Matty (Maddie?) in True Grit. Not loving it.
2) Snow White. One of my least favorite fairy tales. Well, here's hoping Valente turns it on its head.
On the plus side, I do like Valente's writing.
I like Westerns and I don't hate Snow White, so those issues won't affect me. On the other hand I stayed up all night playing Pokemon Go so I might be to tired to read today.
Ha! I'm a little obsessed with a game called "Don't Starve." It was one of the games of the year on iTunes. Fun graphics too.
Hey, I picked it up and couldn't let go of it, especially as I was on the road and really had a lot of time

Trust Valente. Her take on a tale is always worth hearing out.
That said, oh heck, no Westerns and no Snow White?! Ruh-roh Raggy
Ugh, Snow White--another one of those Women/beauty/jealousy thing. And the man waking her up with a kiss. Eyeroll.Plus, (whispering) I think the seven dwarves are kind of creepy.

Creepy was the family name, wasn't it? Sleepy Creepy? Dopey Creepy? or am I dreamying?
-- Hello, I read the book in March 2013 and rather enjoyed it. So, I'm riding along to see what others think. --
Carol. wrote: "Hey, Karl! Long time no see. Glad you are following along."-- Thank you Carol, you are a fine moderator and have great insight, I didn't like westerns either until I had read some of Joe R. Lansadale's westerns and then started the Longmire series. --
