Mark Restaino (authormarkrestaino) I'm looking for reviews for my Christian children's book, May You Be Blessed with Failure. It's has cute illustrations and a lineup of backward blessings that show how God works in our suffering.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

I have received negative reviews because it contains Catholic symbolism. While I am Catholic, my wife is Protestant, and I think all Christian families can enjoy this book 🙂

I can message or email anyone who is interested a PDF, EPUB, or MOBI copy.

Joe Siccardi | 11 comments I was wondering if anyone would be willing to review and/or promote one of my just-published books, My Name Is Sam ... and Heaven Is Still Shining Through, an expansion of my Christian-based fiction novella, Heaven Shining Through, or Wisdom From a Father, a collection of short stories dealing with my faith and family which was released in November. My writing is always filtered through the lens of Judeo-Christian values and largely based on 40 years of marriage raising five children. I currently live in Dover-Foxcroft, ME.

Book Title and Genre: My Name Is Sam ... and Heaven Is Still Shining Through, Fictional Memoir
Release date: June, 2019. Self Published, 192 pages
Synopsis:
Sit down with a cup of coffee or an iced tea and visit with Sam as she shares a lifetime of memories in this new Christian-themed fictional memoir.
NOTE: The core story is the same as Heaven Shining Through with more character development and a continuation of her story. Samantha (the lead) is strong willed and had a lot of dates, leading to some confrontations with her mother. She was equally strong in her resolve to remain pure. There is a scene when she and her boyfriend make love; however, the focus is the aftermath -- the remorse, the regret by both Samantha and Chad. They do get married and live a rewarding, faith filled life. It was that faith I was trying to promote in the book. No matter what, God loves us and forgives us. Honestly, the book was not intended to be a "Christian" novel, but a novel everyone could enjoy without an overt Christian message. I intentionally did not want to preach to the choir. This is a story of reconciliation and self-awareness. And it does deal with the sometimes messiness of life.

Book Title and Genre: Heaven Shining Through, Christian Fiction/Relationships
Release Date: March, 2018. Self-published through Xulon, 64 pages
Synopsis:
Samantha is dreading her return home. Throughout her life, she had a rocky relationship with her mother – and now her mother is all she has left.
Through a nostalgic look back, Samantha recognizes the presence of God in an ordinary life. She learns more about herself as a wife and mother who has had her share of sorrow and blessings.
As her faith increases, she is able to see her mother through new eyes, leading to reconciliation … and is reminded of that every time she sees Heaven Shining Through

Book Title and Genre: Wisdom From a Father, Christian Non-Fiction
Release Date: November, 2018. Self-published, 160 pages
Synopsis:
Wisdom From a Father is a reflective look at life, segmented into chapters. The 52 essay chapters include reflections on life, love and family. All are written from the heart, sometimes seriously and sometimes with a touch of humor.

If interested, please let me know about your procedures. Hard copy, Kindle or PDF copy available upon request. The covers, my bio and launch press releases to help introduce me to you.

G.J. Hocking (httpsmobiletwittercomgjhocking) | 6 comments I recently introduced myself to the group. My name is G.J.Hocking, and I have written a book titled The Pentecostal Paradox.
This book is due for publication with Wipf and Stock on July 10. I would like pre-publication reviews where possible.
If you would like to know more about a movement in which at least one-quarter of the world's population identifies with, including around 49 percent of all Christians in the United States, then this book is for you.
Set in California, this book explores the reason why I have termed the Golden State the Charismatic Cradle. It takes an inside look at the Pentecostal movement drawing from eyewitness accounts, newspaper reports of the day, and other long-forgotten sources.
Much of the book is written in narrative style; and the would-be reader will gain an understanding of how the Pentecostal movement is among the most powerful, fastest-growing religious organizations worldwide. While at the same time, learning how this group, along with its antecedent outgrowths of the charismatic and third-wave movements, are also mired in controversy and biblical uncertainty.
I can send a PDF in book format, either message me or email gjhockingpentecostalparadox@gmail.com. Thanks.

Dr Peter | 8 comments I am very happy to send either a free and theirs to keep pdf file or a hard copy of my new book 'The Rage Against the Light: Why Christopher Hitchens Was Wrong' to an honest reviewer who will read the book and give their opinions. The book was published on 29 April 2019 by Wipf and Stock in the USA. The book is the published version of a doctoral thesis for Trinity College and Seminary and grew out of my growing concern at the influence of New Atheism (think of Dawkins, Dennett, Harris and Hitchens).

Jocelyn Soriano (jocelynsoriano) | 1 comments Hi, could I ask some reviews for my children's book, THE GOOD FOR NOTHING BOY? It's FREE TODAY on Amazon (July15-19, 2019): The Good For Nothing Boy will move your heart and soul as he explores magical lands and meets extraordinary creatures as he tries to find his name, his father and his worth! click here

The Good For Nothing Boy
The Good For Nothing Boy by Jocelyn Soriano

Review by Christian Bookaholic:
The Good For Nothing Boy by Jocelyn Soriano is a charming children’s tale just perfect for ages eight and above. It is a tale to read to your grandchildren or children or to let more confident readers read to them self. The story follows a boy with no name and seemingly no purpose in life, abandoned by his mother. With the help of a firefly the boy searches for his purpose. He meets many unique characters along the way, each with their own unique gift. Hearts are opened and lives are changed as lessons are learnt. The moral of the story is to be just who God created you to be. You are unique and you are loved. Bloom just where God has planted you. He loves you just the way you are. The story was simply told, enabling it to be understood by all. Each chapter can be a starting point for a discussion with your child. This is a positively delightful tale that will be enjoyed by all, no matter what your age is.

Dr Peter | 8 comments I recommend strongly that you buy Gregory Skeen's book 'Deeps Where the Elephant May Swim' and here is why:

The metaphor of deep water for the inexhaustible love, power and knowledge of God has always been an attractive one to me. The idea of being immersed in the cleansing goodness of God is very beautiful. Perhaps that is why I can sit by the ocean for hours and watch it engulf the beach before withdrawing, then coming again. It is as if I can hear the ocean breathing.

Thus, when I was asked to review a book that goes by the eye-catching title Deeps Where the Elephant May Swim, the metaphor of deep water caught my attention. I assumed that Gregory Skeen’s book was a Christian novel because of the poetic qualities of his title, but I was surprised to understand that it was a devotional that guides readers through a series of scriptural texts, enlightening their understanding in a gentle tone and with smooth, imagistic eloquence.

Skeen’s title is of pivotal importance to his text. Skeen quotes the source of his title: the writings of the Puritan divine John Owen who uses the image of elephants swimming in deep water as a metaphor for the ways in which we can, as mature Christian, dive into the unfathomable depths of God’s word. The symbol of the elephant is important too, for Skeen, who lives in South Africa, evokes the African context of his writings which is an important reminder that one of the most important centres of Christianity today is Africa.

The versatility of Skeen’s text is one of its most significant characteristics. As Skeen himself states, his book is a starting point for discussion and a source for Bible studies. But it is also a reference book for thinking people and for those preparing to teach the word of God. His book achieves all of this through the elucidation of fifty key Scriptural texts.

Each chapter begins by quoting a verse or verses from the New Testament. It then progresses into a discussion of an historical or contemporary issue, or an element of culture, which then leads to an exposition of the text to which the issue or element relates. The quality of the exposition and the discussion of how the lessons learned apply to the readers’ lives reveal that the author has had excellent training in how to interpret and teach Scripture from the South African Theological Seminary. Each chapter ends with a prayer which the reader can use or adapt as s/he sees fit. The prayer is an important reminder to speak to God now that He has spoken through His word.

One thing I appreciate about Skeen’s book is that it weaves into its scriptural analysis the wisdom of Christian writers such as St Anselm and quotations from a range of extra-biblical sources which illuminate the message. Though the Bible is the only divinely authored text, there is wisdom in many other places and writers can draw on these too. What is more, Skeen provides meticulously created footnotes which allow the reader to find the sources of this additional commentary.

This is a very fine book and one which I commend to all, whether Christian or not. It is very rich in its scriptural insights but goes well beyond ‘head-knowledge’ by challenging its readers to work out in their lives the lessons of each chapter. As the Anglican liturgy states, ‘Great is the mystery of faith.’ Great too is the mystery of why this book has not yet been taken up by a publisher and presented to the global Christian market.

Dr Peter Harris August 2019.

Kelli Pizarro (kellipizarro) | 12 comments This released 8/7 from my publisher and I need reviews. My publisher offers a free Kindle copy in exchange for a review being made.

Scarlett Cooper’s goals in life up to this point have been simple enough: run The Little Latte coffee shop by day and finish a novel-in-the-making by night. When her creative writing juices dry up, she visits the local bookstore for inspiration and leaves with a flier promoting an upcoming writer’s retreat in Cape Cod.

When announced as a winner, Scarlett crosses the state line from New Hampshire into Massachusetts. What she doesn’t realize is the retreat is themed The Great Writers of History, and she has been selected to play the part of starving artist Charles Dickens.

Hilarity ensues as Scarlett dresses in costume and competes against two fellow writers playing the parts of Jane Austen and William Makepeace Thackeray, spends her nights in a tiny shack on a cliff overlooking the sea, and finds herself developing feelings for a local man hired to tend to the retreat pet: a decrepit donkey named Janet.

Although things at the retreat don’t run as smoothly as Scarlett had hoped, and the competitive nature of the other writers tests her in a way reminiscent of Job who lost half his donkeys (one of which was probably named Janet), she learns that no amount of adversity is worth letting go of one’s dreams.
