Various dwellings are important to the unfolding of Roy's story. How is each described? To what extent does each embody or reflect the forces and burdens of history, social order, and custom?

I am not going to do well at answering this but place was very important. I remember that very well. Here are some quotes I found on line that show how the author uses dwellings in her book;

The old house on the hill wore its steep, gabled roof pulled over its ears like a low hat. The walls, streaked with moss, had grown soft, and bulged a little with dampness that seeped up from the ground.
