How was it? Good? I have the first book somewhere and have my fingers crossed that Williams is back to good old fantasy without the depressing bent of his other series.

I requested everything we talked about here, except Wayward Children #4 & Paradox Bound... I even requested King of Scars, to get that on the calendar... all new releases are planned for 7 days after release, as per what I said above...
When would you like to read Paradox Bound, Narilka? I already read Sightwitch, but if you or others want to make a thread to talk about it, you can, or you can talk about it in the Bloodwitch thread, if you want... it's a prequel to the series that's supposed to tie-in to the third book... I might do a re-read before Bloodwitch, but I dunno...

Some of them standalones look interesting Angela, but I don't have time to check them all out before I head to work... I'll check back tomorrow morning... I know Warcross is on my TBR, and Dry sounds interesting...

Don't know, I also haven't read them yet. I've read the Dragonbone Chair books this year and liked them very much, I'm excited to continue with this world.

Storm Cursed -- Mercy Thompson #11
Wild Country -- Others #7
Fallen -- Alex Verus #10
Sapphire Flames -- Hidden Legacy #4
Darkdawn -- Nevernight Chronicles #3
@Idiffer I’m up for these:
Ninth House
King of Scars
@Angela I’m up for these. I’m jam packed for Jan but I’ll try and fit them in any other time:
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
Dry by Neal Shusterman.
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld.
Warcross by Marie Lu

Let's do one a month maybe? I don't really mind which order we read them in. Starting on feb 5th ok for you?

I'm in – been wanting to read GGK forever and it seems Tigana is a good place to start

Like i said earlier, Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman. We did a scythe buddy read this year, maybe some of you would be i..."
I'd like to join in on A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue + sequel :)

Does February work for everyone who wants to join?

I'd like to join in on the new Bardugo series!

I set all new releases a week late as a compromise... Day 1 readers can use the thread and get competition points... people who wait for a library copy can participate for points as late as 3 weeks after release... I only broke that rule for Wild Country and Storm Cursed because Soo was the first respondent, and asked to start them later in the month...

jan 29 is the release date. Iain had a good idea to set the BR date a week after (library and other reasons I don't remember).
for me it doesn't really matter, but I wouldn't want to wait for MORE than a week.
Don't know what to do about Ninth house, as it doesnt have a day of release, only the month of october. So should we wait until a date is confirmed for the release?

Is this for all the standalones and duologies you listed?... I'm interested in reading all of them... my schedule could use more short series to spice it up... I haven't read Scythe, tho, so can't do Thunderhead...
8th of each month would work, like Charlie mentioned... only other thing I have on the 8th is Kurtherian Gambit, and those books take about 3-5hrs to read...

A week after release date would be nice for me, because I don't know if my copy will arrive exactly on the 29th. So February 5 is a go?
Re: Ninth House – yeah, let's wait until we know when it'll be published. We could set it for November, but idk, if it's published like... October 3rd, that'd be a long time to wait 😂

I put King of Scars on the schedule for February 5th... hopefully what I said above about it qualifying for competition points for anyone who starts between January 29th and February 19th... or you could request a 2nd BR... we did that by accident last year... half the group read Children of Time on February 23rd, and the rest signed up for a BR of Children of Time on March 10th, without realizing there was another one so close...

You have a preferred April date to start?
Anyone else wanting to sign up for The First Law series by Abercrombie, starting in April?

Damn, I should have known that. On the book info page it does have the date, but on my shelf it just says october.
Kathrine wrote: "Sounds fine. I'm not sure how the competition points work, I better check up on that if I'm joining this year, hahaha"
You can start a Buddy Read up to 7 days early or 14 days late, but anything more than that, and you can't count it as a Buddy Read for competition points... in general, BRs go best if you read around the start date... you get higher participation that way, and it shouldn't all be a points game... it's not like there's a reward at the end...
I view New Releases a bit differently... usually everyone is excited about it, so participation is high, anyway... I set the start date to allow the highest level of participation between book buyers and book borrowers, is all...

As Azrah pointed out there is a release date for ninth house - oct 1.
It's just not visible on your shelves.

The shelf treats the first day of any month as a generic month date... learned that a long time ago when I used to fiddle with things in there...

Sure, we can do whenever really. I just suggested a random date 😉
Do you want to do a specific order?

Great :) do you have a date in mind? I'm free from end of january onwards.

How about march 15th then? :)
I'll see if I like the first one before buying the sequel.

We'll be finished with the Martin book by then, so sounds like good timing :)
