Buddy Read Invite (Retired)

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you guys! I'm still interested in Kings of the Wyld. I'm open to starting at any date in April too."
Excellent! I'll make a request date for April 1st for us :D

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter

I'm up for Rage of Dragons over the late spring/summer. Been sitting on my unread bookshelf for a year or two :)

Cool Rob, we've got a date set for the 10th May for it :)

Bunker Books: Wake Me After the Apocalypse
Empire of Talents: The Spy in the Silver Palace
The Fire Queen's Apprentice: The Watermight Thief
Would be the three series I'm interested in. I could start around April 5th.
And I'm also looking for someone to read The Vanishing Half with me :)

The Once and Future Witches
Windwitch (book 2 in a series)
Cursor's Fury (book 3 in a series)

I'll read the standalone with you... I already read the 2 series you listed...
Just pick a date, preferably at least a week or 2 away, I just picked up some Hoopla audiobooks with my March credits, so they weren't wasted, and I have 3 weeks to read them all...

I'd be interested in reading the Bunker books and the Empire of Talents... looks like I need to read Steel & Fire before trying the 3rd series/trilogy you listed...
I think I'd like to finish one series before starting the other, rather than scheduling multiple series reads (I already have a couple coming up like Shadows of the Apt)...
I think the Talents one sounds more interesting, with all the different Talented people?... like I said to Hailee, pick a date to start, preferably at least 1-2 weeks from now, to start... just saw the April 5th comment, that might work... I'll probably read faster than you anyway, if you wanted to start first...
EDIT: apparently the series I'm most interested in doesn't have audiobooks (yet?)... all the other series appear to, tho...
I can get Steel & Fire on Hoopla (not that that helps you right now, but it's something I can use credits on and read eventually)... and everything else is available on KU as ebooks, so I can buy the audiobooks at whispersync pricing...
Means we can read the Bunker series now, instead, I guess... and the Fire Queen one in the future maybe... I don't like making ebook commitments, no matter how much I liked the look of the Talents series, since I inevitably fail to make time for ebooks... took me 2-3 months to read Dawnshard, a novella...

Hailee, I need to finish the Codex Alera series, so if you'd like to read the remaining books in the series, please let me know; I'd be only too happy to read books 3-6 with you.

Just pick a date, preferably at least a week or 2 away"
Great. How about the 10th? That'll give us a few days (although I should say me since you'll probably finish it in a couple of days 😆) to get into it before The Empire of Black and Gold buddy read starts.

Absolutely I'd love complete The Codex Alera series. Its been a while since I read book 2 (Nov 2018 🙈) . Lets pick a date for book 3 for now and then we can play it by ear for the remaining books depending on how fast we read them/other commitments?
I was thinking of starting Cursor's Fury around the 25th of April but I'm open to other dates if that doesn't work for you?

I don't think you did... I just checked the spreadsheet, and the last request for a Gail Carriger book was Soulless on February 17th...
Every existing request says it's been fulfilled... in an emergency, you can probably use me and Narilka's All Things Gail Carriger thread... we never DID use it for other steampunk books, yet...

If I remember correctly, the overarching plot of the series starts to pick up steam in book 4-6... great series... can't believe I waited so long to read it, after loving Dresden for so long... that being said, I'm still waiting for Butcher to finish Cinder Spires before I give it a go...

It's supposed to be a trilogy... I think he's finishing the 2nd book up now that the 2 Dresden books made it to publication last year... Cinder Spires 2 -> Dresden 18 -> Cinder Spire 3 seems most likely for writing order, at this point...

I just went and checked his website, and this is what it says:
DATES TBD (not this year, obvs)
Cinder Spires #2: The Olympian Affair
Dresden Files #18: Tentatively titled Twelve Months. (Mirror Mirror will now be book #19)
I've been looking forward to Mirror, Mirror forever... and it's been delayed again... I wonder what Twelve Months is about...
EDIT: I did some digging, and it sounds like Twelve Months is going to be a main series anthology of stories... possibly 1 story for each month of the year after Battle Grounds... where Butcher and Dresden finally deal with all the aftermath and slice of life stuff that's been piling up unresolved since around book 12, because Dresden's life has been a hectic mess...
Clears the slate for future hectic stuff... and gives time for Dresden to make all the magic tools he's been lacking, and resolve some stuff...
The more I hear about it, the better and better idea it seems...
It was soft revealed in a podcast interview in October and discussed some more in a DragonCon interview in December... I don't quite have time for 2hrs of interviews right now to hear it all from Butcher himself... maybe someone else will be interested, tho...

How about April 16th?
Steel and Fire is a really great series! All her ebooks are available through KU, that's another reason why I'm eager to read them lol, besides the fact that she's a talented writer.
I’m always sad when theres no audio version... I might try to read that Talent trilogy, but I can’t really commit to a schedule since I’m so bad at ebooks these days...

That would be fine for me.
Angela Jr. wrote: "No worries, you don't have to read it if you don't want to! Maybe there'll be an audio version in the future"
I actually read like the first 2 pages on work break with Kindle app right after messaging earlier... just proof I don't make much time for ebooks, lol...

Ow, strange. I know I've requested it, but something went wrong. I'll see what the others will do.

That's fine... I actually just saw the April 26th and 23rd dates on the spreadsheet... these BRs, and the April 10th one with Hailee haven't been created on GR, yet...

I really liked codex. Thanks for the Cinder Spires updates Iain. I liked that one pretty well even though the only thing I remember about it now is a cat. It’ll be nice to get regular publications from him again. Although I’m personally ready for him to wrap up Dresden within the next couple years.
I’m kinda ready too... after the drought of dresden in the 2010s... realistically, we’re waiting on book 18 of 25, next, I think...

The Bone Season series has been on my TBR for ageeesss. I'd be up for reading that at some point this year~
(Pity that I've already recently read Gods of Jade and Shadow, or I would have been going for that too lol)

When do you want to start? Not this month, because I've got to much books planned already.

I've also had finishing The Bone Season on my list for a while and would be up for that.

I'm good with that. If I get lost, I may need a gentle nudge. :D But, it will just be because I got lost. :D

Anyone else care to join us before I put in the request for a buddy read?

Edit to add I've already requested a thread.
