Oooh. I'm really tempted to read this one...question for you Hailee. Do you need to read her Shadow and Bone series for things to make sense in this one??

Hi Katie,
Short answer is no you don't. Leigh Bardugo has said that she wrote this so that it can be read without having read the Grisha trilogy. I haven't read the shadow and bone trilogy and I understood and enjoyed the Six of Crows duology just fine.
However some people do argue that it is a lot easier to understand the world building/magic system if you have read that trilogy first (although like I said I understood everything without doing so). And also because the events in Six of Crows happen after the trilogy you might potentially be spoiled for what happens in the trilogy if you ever decide to read it, although I don't know how spoilery it is really since I have no idea what the Shadow and Bone trilogy is about.

Thanks for the explanation Hailee! I kinda heard the same thing from people. The magic system making more sense and stuff. I just really wasn't liking the characters in Shadow and Bone ^^; But I loved Language of Thorns....
But yeah, if you said you read it without reading her previous series...I'd love to give it a shot! When did you want to start reading? :D

Let's shoot for Friday then :D I have a copy at home so we should be good there. Did you want to request a thread?

Perfect. Yes I've just requested it :-)

I might jump in on some of this :) An Oathbreaker re-read almost for certain!

Oooh. I'm really tempted to read this one...question for you Hailee...."
I mean, you already decided to read it, but I completely agree with Hailee :) I've read the Six of Crowns duology first and only read the Shadow and Bone series afterwards. I see why you maybe should read it the other way around, but I wasn't confused and I don't even think it spoils the Shadow and Bone series too bad.
If you plan to read King of Scars sometime, I would suggest to read both series tho.
Plus, I wasn't much into the main characters of Shadow and Bine eigher, but after getting to know the world through Six if Crows, it made me like the trilogy more :)

Me! This look great!

Awesome! It's pretty short too so should be finished quickly. When do you wanna start in the next week, then? Is the 12th ok?

Siobhan and me will read it anyway, so there will be one and you're very welcome to join us :)
