John Tissandier | 12 comments 1. John Tissandier
2. Poetry and short stories; the themes cover just about EVERYTHING (including mixing fiction with programming): it’s a marketing nightmare, but what the muse ordered. I like reading about science and mysticism.
3. First book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
4. My surname TISSANDIER is unusual in the UK where I live and not even that common in France, its country of origin. However it’s based on the common word TISSER, which means to weave. So it’s quite likely that my ancestors were weavers. According to Nominative Determinism I should be playing with my loom and producing a textile rather than a book. However there is a connection, and it’s all thanks to a brilliant Roman orator called Quintilian. He’s the one who created the metaphor of the writer as someone who weaves words into a fine TEXTile. It had such impact that we have ended up with the word TEXT, meaning the words of an author or speaker. So it seems quite natural after all that with the name TISSANDIER I should have produced text in the form of a book. I hope that the stories I’ve woven are clear enough that readers don’t lose the thread!
