SOLVED. Late 1990s Fantasy - time travel Ireland myth based [s]

I read this book I think in the 1990s that had a woman transporting through a portal to an older Ireland based time. It may have been called the Wolf King (or close to that) where there were characters based on Cu Chulainn. I've already looked up Dierdre based novels (none matched so far).

If I remember correctly, she transported to this somewhat beastly King's realm who was mostly alone in his kingdom, didn't want her there initially and who was involved in some war, but back in her time (1970s? Ireland) was from a family of mostly men/boys who didn't regard her with much interest.

I've looked for this book for the last 20 years-ish and cannot find anything that matches portals-Irish legend-fantasy.
