MG book, girl has to learn to walk on her hands for part in a play

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone recognises a book I read 15-20 years ago. It was a middle grade or children's book set in England about a girl who moves to a seaside town and joins an amateur dramatics society. For the play she has to be able to walk for several metres on her hands. I remember there was a scene towards the end where she manages to walk on her hands on the beach. Also it's revealed that the other people in the drama society are actually ghosts, and I think they died during the blitz when a bomb hit the town.

I know the details are a little vague, which is probably why my own searches have yielded nothing, but I'm hoping it rings a bell for someone.

I'm afraid I don't recall anything definite about the cover. It might have had a dark haired, light skinned girl on the front but there is every chance I'm thinking of a different book. I read it in England, and it was in English.

As for the time period, it was contemporary to when I read it, give or take. It might have been a more 'learning to accept a situation/event through being in this play' story, but the main thing that stuck in my 10ish year old mind was her walking on her hands.

That's not it, I'm afraid. From what I recall it didn't feel like an adventure book.

I'd guess the protagonist had a lead part, but that's more reasoning than remembering.
